Prop pitch (engine loading) and airframe drag (or lack thereof) also affects mixture and therefore EGT's. Jabiru engines come from the factory tuned for their airframe. So, you have to adjust the prop pitch or choose a prop with the correct pitch to properly load the engine. You must also choose carb jetting to suite your particular airframe and prop combination. The gist of it is a clean airframe presents less load to the engine and the result is a leaner running engine. An airframe with more drag results in a richer running engine. Same thing with prop pitch. More pitch makes the engine work harder, richening the mixture. With less prop pitch the engine doesn't work as hard and the result is leaning. This was covered in depth at the Jabiru Seminar put on by Jabiru USA. I highly recomend attending their seminar if you can. The wealth of information they provide about the engine and Bing carby is well worth the price charged. Try giving Pete at Jabiru USA a call. Chances are he's already seen your combination and can "cut to the chase" with suggestions on how to get you back to where you need to be. Hope it helps!
