Because of the billet construction method of the Jabiru crankcase,it woul
d be pretty easy to add mount pads to it.

I'm curious if anyone has every attempted to mount any sort of speed reduc

unit on any Jabiru engine. I'm not saying I want to do this, just curious
to see
if anyone has ever done so. If so, results and other details would be welc

And it should work as well as the geared Continentals....OOPS!
The problem is the engine was designed to turn 3300 MAX rpms. If you
want a geared engine, get a Rotax 912 and run it at 5500 rpms.
Anybody remember the Cessna 175?

Geared continentals worked fine, it was the pilots that still wanted to run
them at 2500rpm. that caused the problems.-
There has been a lot of success with VW's and gear reductions.- Their rpm
's are similar to the Jabiru.
Slower moving propellers are more efficient.-- To slow can be a problem
under certain circumstances.

It has been tried a few times. I've been told it resulted in a broken
crankshaft each time.

Thanks, Pete.
I was hoping you would have some knowledgeable input. Good idea on paper but looks
like the crank is not up to it.

A friend just tried a K&N air filter in this Jab 3300. What a difference. Cooler
EGT's, better top end performance. He had a little problem with mixture at WOT
all his problems went away by just being able to breath easier.
