I was a little disappointed that the cooling duct as received with the engine has too small an area to get ANY of the equivalent oil filters in place. Early on I had noticed a small wear spot on the end of the Ryco filter and I put a small piece of tape in there to give some wear resistance. The issue is that all of the replacement filters are about 1/16" taller (or longer) than the original Ryco. Some of the filters are also about 1/8" bigger in diameter in addition to being just a little longer. This will mean rebuilding the front lower section of the cooling duct, of course after it has been all finished, painted and flying season is upon us. :( I tried the NAPA 1394, Pennzoil, Wicks, Fram, Bosch equivalentsto no avail. -------- Don McIntosh Kitfox Series 7 under construction Jabiru 3300 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=291557#291557 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 09:56:03 AM PST US From: "flylightning" Subject: RE: JabiruEngine-List: Replacement Oil Cooler Install the oil filter. Trim the air-duct as needed for clearance. Put some cardboard and tape over the oil filter to give clearance and than re-glass the airduct. Remove it all when it dries and clean up the edges. My guess is the air-duct was fitted to close or low. No big deal easy fix. It is possible to install ducts too far down and create some interference. You might first try repositioning your ducts to fit correctly. If you cowl design requires the ducts to be out of position then you will have to modify the ducts to fit.
