Fritz,=0A=0AOther replies have not diagnosed the cause of your pushrod comi
ng off, the cause =0Aof this problem on an engine of mine was a sticky valv
e stem, the valve did not =0Aclose fully ,then the pushrod fell away from t
he retaining dome in the rocker =0Aarm.=0A=0ASugested cause of the sticktio
n was contaminants from the fuel on an intake =0Avalve,-( a mix including
unleaded had been used on the last flight prior to a =0Alay up and had dri
ed to form a gum).=0A=0AThe head was removed and valves taken out ,valve gu
ides then carefully reamed to =0Aremove deposits, after which the engine ra
n correctly.=0A=0AFinaly I decided on replacing the heads as I had a new se
t on order.=0A=0AI would advise checking "stiction" of your valves in their
guides and cleaning =0Aof valve stems minimum, you may be able to inspect
rubbing area of valve =0Astem-after removing exhaust pipe, to review leva
l of carbon build up removal =0Amethods etc.=0A=0ARegards=0A=0AKevin=0A=0A

You might want to try a little Marvel Mystery Oil in your gas per their
recommendations. I use it as an alternate form of compliance to a SB on my
HKS for valve sticking, guide wear. Works great.

I do not wish to start any controversy over any fuel additives, but I have c
lose to 600 trouble free hrs on my Jab 3300, s/n
33A644. A few years ago I would occasionally hear a "ting" when I would pul
l the prop
through by hand during preflight for an Armstrong compression check I suspe
cted the "ting" might be caused by a valve momentarily sticking. I started
using 2 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil per 5 gal of fuel, mostly 93 octane (U.S.)
alcohol free and some 100LL. Since then I recall no "ting".
