    >>>>>>I visited the Jabiru factory at Bundaberg - Great bunch there - all very he lpful - learnt a lot about the different sealers used in the engine. The bl ack "Gook" is worth putting on the inlet tubes as any leaks there will lean out the mixture.<<<<<<< Hey Guys, A relatively quick way to tell if you have leaks in the intake manifold is to do the old Citabria exhaust manifold trick. Remove the carb, set up your shop vacuum to "blow" and attach the hose to the intake manifold. With the air blowing into the manifold coat the all the various fittings and joints with a mixture of soap and water and look for bubbles. I've found mine leaking at the rubber boots where the upper and lower intake pipes connect using this technique. While at Jabiru school they told us to put the black "gook" on about 1/4" before the pipe bottoms out when inserted into the splitter. When you push the pipe in the rest of the way the "gook" will push into the joint and help the "o" ring seal. Hope it helps! Regards, John Lawton Whitwell, TN (TN89) Europa N245E - Flying

The Black "Gook" is #2 gasket sealer, from permatex or versacem.
