Jab-thusiasts, =C2- I have one of the original "old style" oil cooler s on my 3300 and a JabUSA 3300 FWF kit installed on my Zenith CH601XLB. =C2-Many of you have been ki nd in giving me advice about my CHT's, I added "Eybrow" sccops to my cowl an d magically I =C2-have improved my CHT temps to just under 300 F on these 85F days. =C2-My goal is to attempt to lower things a bit more if possible .. =C2- My next battle that seems to be looming is now Oil Temps. =C2-I seem to be running at 220 to 235F =C2-in cruise. =C2-Yes, I'm very aware of too hi gh =C2-oil level and high oil temps. =C2-Curiously before I did my B mod s I used to run from 190F to 215F and I am curious to why I'm running hotter than usual. =C2-Any suggestions on getting temps down? =C2- In looking at my old style oil cooler and the large NACA vent that supplies it with air, nothing is different from when I installed it, except I added a scoop under the cooler that meets with the bottom lip of the NACA vent. =C2-If I run without the vent scoop my oil temps head for 245F+, =C2-the only other thing that is different is that I covered the 2 holes on the old style RAM air ducts that are supposed to spill air over the top of the engi ne block. =C2- Anyways, that's where I am at with 288 hours on my airframe and powerplant I would love to just go flying with out having to worry about temps, I think the Australian Manufacturers could do a tad bit better in getting thing dial ed in and functioning as "advertised." Also, =C2-It should be interesting once I get my Europa in the air with the "newer" style 3300 engine and new =C2-style oil cooler and see what I get, probably an apples to oranges com parison. =C2- Jeff Paris ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 04:25:31 PM PST US Subject: Re: JabiruEngine-List: Oil Temps! From: Martin Hone Jeff, I would be looking at increasing the exit opening or making the lip a bit more prominent. Maybe you are damming up the incoming air because it can't all get through the radiator and baffles Martin On Fri, Jul 1, 2011 at 8:56 AM, Jeffrey J Paris wrote: > Jab-thusiasts, > > I have one of the original "old style" oil cooler s on my 3300 and a > JabUSA 3300 FWF kit installed on my Zenith CH601XLB.
