You got me, J. I should have looked harder.
I was unfamiliar with the plane. It would seem to have some difficulty cli
mbing, even if someone decided to have a carnival just off the end of the r
unway.

Subject: | Re: Jabiru powered aeroplanes and ferris wheels |
Another report said that the pilot had just performed a touch & go and also that
the ferris wheel had been placed just off the end of the runway. I suppose
that during a touch & go you could have just focused on the runway during descent
and then the nose could have been too high of an angle to see the ferris wheel
after rotation. Even if you saw the fair during the pattern I think it is
plausible that you could not know that there was an obstacle to watch out for
if you had just aborted a landing and couldn't see around your nose?

The airstrip has 500 yard runway, and the fair comes to town once a year.
This year they placed the Ferris wheel close to the end of the runway.
Apparently the aircraft was coming in to land and decided to go-around.
Either due to engine failure or poor performance, it ended up in the Ferris
wheel.....
