Thanks Gary, power to the argument for hot air carb heat.=0A=0AI forgot to
mention I do use carb heat as I reduce power below 2000.=0AI'd feel lost wi
thout it but as Gary's says and my experience is, ice forms best at low rev
s when there is the biggest pressure drop across the carby.=0A=0ARememberin
g of course, foggy mistys days are not necessarily the worst days for carb
icing conditions. They are just when you think about it...=0A=0AAs with all
these things it's your plane and you can do what you like!=0A=0ARegards, C

live,=0AMy engine never shut down at cruise power settings, although it did
get really rough as it ingested the ice chunks. If there is fog the elements
are ripe for ice,but you can have ice at temps in the 60'sF if the humidit
y is high. The only time it might cause the engine to quit would probably be
at reduced power settings and almost for sure at idle on decent.=0AG.Aman

my experience Jab engines aren't prone to carby ice. I've don't =0Athink I
've ever had it in the air in 1500 hrs of flying Jabs. I don't do regular
=0A6 min carb heat checks though I do have a play with it now and again at
the =0Abeginning of -a trip.-=0A=0AI've =0Anever had carby ice on the g
round but I know -of a two 3300's that have had =0Ait while taxiing out.
Even one with the little electric thing bolted to the =0Acarby.-=0A=0AMy
=0Aengine does get a bit of ice as every so often, how do I know?, it eats
a small =0Ablob of water an tells me it has, then my alarm system says 'wha
t was that' (my =0Awife bless her). Or if I have the bowl off there's a lit
tle ball of water in the =0Afuel sometimes. I think this comes from taxiing
in and it melts after shut =0Adown.=0A=0AWhat =0Awould one do if one met t
hose ideal conditions for carby ice and your light bulb =0Asized heater on
the side of the carby can't cope, or it pops and you haven't =0Achecked it
lately and you don't have that knob in the panel. At worse, land if =0Ayou
can, at best get a fright.=0A=0AWould =0AI fly a Jab engine without a hot a
ir carby heat?, nope, -=0A=0ARegards, =0AClive=0A=0A=0A__________________

Engine-List: Re: 3300 carb heat=0A=0A=0A=0AJust to be pedantic, there is no
electric carb heat *from* Jabiru. There =0Aare several 3rd party sources f

Subject: | Re: Idle Jet Circuit |
I was having trouble starting my 3300 whenever it was below 40. The US Jabiru website
has an article about drilling out the choke jet to alleviate this problem.
This works great for me as the engine has started almost immediately every
time even down to 15 degrees OAT.
