The Bing compensates for pressure altitude but not density
altitude. In the winter, the cold air (more O2 molecules per volume at
same pressue) makes the engine run leaner and in the summer the warm
air richens the mixture.- So it is the increase in air temperature
that is making the difference in the summer.
