List Finally finished up the Conditional Inspection and flew yesterday. Changing out the 285 needle jet to a 290 dropped the max EGT on the hottest cylinder from 1425 to 1349 with most cylinders about 1220 to 1250. All cylinders were at or way under 300 deg. CHT. This was taken at 1200' AGL turning 2750 RPM @ 24" MP and indicating 124 mph Bobby ( age 75 ) Zodiac 601 XL "B" Jabiru 3300 S/N 1141 Sensenich 64" x 51" Prop Bing Carb 260 Main & 290 Needle Jet Status - Flying 188 hrs. Bobby, What did you get for fuel flow with the 2.90 jet. I started using that and got a higher fuel flow-over 6 GPH at cruise. Like you my EGT's and CHT are good with it. If at 1200 AGL, are you in Colorado or Florida? Makes about a 6000 foot diff erence. Other big question is how does the speed and fuel burn/flow change w ith the new jet? I expect you traded cooler EGT for slower speed and less ec onomy. (And sooty spark plugs).
