Subject: | 3300 SN347 TT588 |
The Jab List,
I need help identifying a random engine miss problem in cruise flight.
The engine runs smooth at idle, mag check, full throttle 2900-3000rpm on
climb out and at 2300 rpm and less in the landing pattern.
I flew for 35 min after twisting the Bing carb to balance the EGT's with no
engine miss.
The next day I flew two consecutive flights of one hour and had 7 or 8 very
random engine misses in cruise flight, each trip. It happened at 2700 rpm
with egt's at 1300, 2750 rpm with egt's at 1200 and 2850 rpm with egt's at
1100. I might have one or two misses then go two or three minutes without
any and as much as ten to fifteen minutes without a miss.
I have been chasing this random miss for a year and have done the following;
1) Added the electric carb heat.
2) Twisted the carb to balance the egt's, this worked well.
3) Replaced both coils and one rotor and cap.
4) Sprayed starting fluid on the induction tubes and fittings to find air
leaks. (negative)
I only use 100 LL fuel.
I hope you can help, Tim
