I did more research and the results exactly match your recommendations. I also contacted the Jabiru USA guys and was told that of all the black starters sold there is a pretty high % that have been replaced. So.. I will install another grounding wire directly to the body of the starter, I have already cleaned and checked the connections from the battery. I use heavy battery cables for all my starter wiring, so I believe that should work. If I continue to have issues I will get a new starter motor, I have about 100Hrs on the engine but given that the silver is a more powerful motor it should solve the problem. I already got a new AeroVoltz battery so I can verify if that makes a difference also and see if my original battery does the job. Thanks again for your support, nice to be able to go get some advice. This let the bearings spin in the recess and slowed the starter down to a point it would not crank when cold. In turn this led to more problems. I would definitely check those bolts routinely and put some Locktite on the nuts.
