When I read that I thought -- "No way!!" The kisbuilders group created by Bill Schertz has been a major factor in my life for many years, but one of the limitations of that system was an awkward method of retrieving past postings. I went to the kis list archive search this morning and searched for "bakerocb". An astounding 2090 postings showed up going back to Jun 1999. Not all posted by me because some were posted by others responding to a post by me. The kis list archive is a treasure for all kis builders and owners and my hat is off and my wallet is open to you -- a true computer genius. [PLEASE READ] Greetings KIS Enthusiasts! At the request of Bill Schertz I have migrated the KIS majordomo list over to the Matronics servers. This includes all of the currently subscribed members. I am happy to report that I was also able to import all of the previous logs dating back to 1999 into the Matronics Archive Search/View/Download engines as well! I have put all of the current KIS members on the Realtime distribution. If you would like to also be on the Digest distribution instead of, or in addition to, the Realtime distribution, please feel free to visit the Matronics Subscription form found here: http://www.matronics.com/subscribe You may also subscribe to any number of the other Aviation-Related forums at Matronics at the same time. Carefully following the instructions on the Subscription Page. You will find a whole myriad of features on the Matronics Lists including an Web Forum interface to the Lists. The content on the Forum mirrors the email distribution and vis a versa. This cross posting happens automatically. You will need to register on the Matronics Web Forum to be able to Post directly from the forum, however. That being said, if you are subscribed to the Email distribution, your email posts will automatically show up on the Forum with or without being registered on the Forum. You can access the Forum though the following URL (Look for the KIS-List Forum): http://forums.matronics.com Another nice feature of the Matronics Lists is that you may post pictures. Please scale them down to around 800x600 and use moderate compression, however. You may access the List Archive Search Engine by navigating to the following URL and then selecting the "KIS" list: http://www.matronics.com/search The Matronics List Browse will give you the last 7 days worth of messages posted to the list. Its a quick and easy way to follow the current traffic without having to login or check your email: http://www.matronics.com/browse/kis-list You may also browse the List Daily Digests by going here: http://www.matronics.com/digest/kis-list All of the archives may be browsed or downloaded via the following URLs: Browse: http://www.matronics.com/archive/archive-index.cgi?KIS Download: http://www.matronics.com/archive All of these various features can be accessed anytime though the KIS-List Feature Navigator and you'll want to bookmark this URL for sure: http://www.matronics.com/Navigator/?KIS-List Below is attached the KIS-List FAQ which describes in detail all of these features and more. Following the FAQ is the List Usage Guidelines. PLEASE read these over and abide by them. The Matronics Lists *are not* moderated, but I expect everyone to act responsibly and like adults. Please Read The Usage Guidelines! The FAQ and Usage Guidelines are posted monthly to all members. Every year in November, I hold a completely voluntary List Fund Raiser to raise money to support the List operation. Contributions are usually around $20 or $30 and I also optionally offer some nice incentive gifts for larger contributions. During November I usually post a reminder message about every other day regarding the Fund Raiser. I ask for your patience during this time. The Fundraiser is the main soruce of income I have to support all of the bills associated with running the Lists. I host all of my own servers and a commercial grade Internet connection so that I can provide the highest level of performance, reliability, and protection for the List data. That isn't cheap. Since the KIS-List just moved over to the Matronics systems, I won't be posting the Fundraiser requests directly to the KIS--List this year, but you might see reference to it in the message trailer or on the other Lists. If you feel like making a contribution, I would very much appreciate it. That being said, contributions are *always* 100% voluntary. The Contribution site can be found at the following URL: http://www.matronics.com/contribution Again, I'd like to welcome everyone to the new KIS forum home! I work very hard at providing an always-available, top notch service with the Matronics Lists and Forums. I am also a homebuilder and am nearing completion of a Van's RV-8. You can check out my builder's log at http://www.mattsrv8.com if you'd like. I spent many hours contributing to and benefiting from that group. It was an essential element in the building of my KIS TR-1. We will be forever in your debt for setting that group up and keeping it going. The superb manner of transition to, and the capability of, the new list is a fitting capstone to your efforts. Long live Bill Schertz and Matt Dralle! [PLEASE READ] You guys are certainly welcome! I'm happy to hear of your jubilation over the archives. It took me almost a full day of conversion code writing to get all of those archives converted, cleaned, and in a format that would be supported by the existing Matronics Search an Browse utilities! One thing I noticed when going through all the archives was that there were a lot of replies that included all of the previous text. In the interest of making the Archives more manageable and searchable, it would be good if everyone could remember to trim away most or all of the previous text when replying. Leaving just a little to give context is good, but there's no need to leave the whole thing. Notice how I did this below, removing almost all of my original post text. Again, welcome to all the KIS builders to the new List home! I hope the KIS-List will bring many, many happy years of dialog to the KIS community!!
