Subject: | autopilots in KIS |
Hey guys,
I am removing all my Blue Mountain stuff and evaluating Autopilots that can be
installed in the plane. Can any that have one make any comments on the Trutrack
and Trio units? Single and dual axis configurations.
Thanks,
Bill Schertz

Bill;
I have a TRIO EZ-Pilot with Altitude Hold module. It is great, especially
since it is linked to either my GARMIN 430W or 496 via a selector switch. I
give it two thumbs up!
Have you considered a DYNON unit with autopilot? Just buy the servo's and
you are good to go. I hope to eventually replace my system with the DYNON
one IF the "cash fairy" ever smiles down on me. :o)

I have the trutrak installed in my place, but havn't flown yet.- Very clo
se!- The downside is that the servos are stepper motors so you see the st
eps-a little in the controls.- Also the rectangular face model makes fo
r a difficult hole to cut in the panel.- I'd go with the circular model i
f I did it again.--
-
I have the dynon displays, a D-100 and a D-180, in my panel.- I like them
a lot and the install wasn't bad using their prefab harneses and sensors.
- The only change I made was to replace their shunt with a GRT hall effec
t sensor for current-which is a lot safer in my mind.- If you go dynon
I'd probably use their autopilot.-
-
One advantage to using the trutrak autopilot separate from the dynon is tha
t you end up with another independent gyro in the panel.- Still, two dyno
n units with battery backups in a lot of redundancy already.- I would hav
e gone with the dynon autopilot if it had been available when I did my pane
l.

Hi Bill,
I was lokking at how you attached the wing root fairings and can figure
out what you did on the fuselage but how did you attach the fairing onto
the wing?
Cheers

Subject: | Lycoming O-235 engines |
If anyone is interested in using a Lycoming O-235 engine is a TR-1 I have 3 for
sale! The first is a straight mount O-235 with about 2400 since new and all
log books from new. The last log book entry has the engine certified as airworthy
from an IA. Of course this is the rated TBO of the engine but can be used
as is on condition or overhauled. This is a very low budget way of having a
real aircraft engine that is perfect for the TR-1 at just $2300!
The second engine is a dynafocal mount O-235 L2C with a 125 hp sparrowhawk high
compression conversion. This also has log books and has about 500 hrs since
a field overhaul with sign off by an IA. I think this is the first overhaul but
have not checked the log books. The price is $5500.
The third is a brand new never opened dynafocal mount O-235 L2C! This engine is
sealed from the factory, factory preserved for long term storage and stored
in a climate controled area. This engine was to be used in the second airframe
of an LSA I designed but the company went under. The Lycoming price with manufacturers
discount was $19,900! I would like get $14,500 for this engine.
All three engines are in Stuart, FL.
