The seals for the struts are actually one way "valves". They allow gas in but not out. To charge a gas strut they just place them inside a pressure vessel then pump up the pressure to what ever charge they want in the gas strut. This pressurized gas enters the gas strut so that the pressure is about the same. When the pressure in the pressure vessel is then released the one way seal holds the charge inside the strut. When your struts leak you can do the same to recharge them. Of course nitrogen is better and you can maybe get a fill at a places that fills car tires with nitrogen. But air will also work. So just put the weak or dead gas strut into a section of capped pipe with a tire valve at one end and pump it up to what ever pressure you want. Then release the pressure and open it up and you gas strut should be as good as new. You can calculate the pressure you need based on the force you want and the estimated piston area.
