=0A=0AIt-is possible that it is due to- lack of grease between the oute
r-(upper) tube and inner (lower) one.=0AYou can visually check these surf
aces without much troubles. If the lower-tube is dry with no grease on it
- this is the case.=0AIn my plane I attached greasing ports, one on the le
ft and one on the right of- the outer tube.=0AThis way- I can-put the
grease there -without any heroic actions.=0A=0AIn your case I would reco
mmend to try to grease the tubes- without removal of the gear from the pl
ane. =0ALoad the rear of the plane with sand bags, with another sandbag on
the floor below, until the tail goes all the way down.=0A=0AHaving the tail
down you have the front gear fully extended, -i.e. the springs push the
lower part out, and a big part of the lower tube is exposed.- Now you can
coat it with a decent dense grease for hard working parts, preferably- w
ith molybdenum sulphide. =0AWhen you put the plane back on the front gear t
hat grease will get carried inside between the tubes. That should solve the
problem.=0A=0A=0ARemoving the front wheel and especially-installing it b
ack is a- real pain. =0A=0AI did it by loading the- rear horizontal con
trol surface with sand bags.---Disconnect the upper nut holding the t
op of the landing gear as described by Rich. -Disconnect the rocker holdi
ng it at the bottom, and the whole thing should be able to be removed downw
ay.=0A=0APutting it back is much harder.-Getting the threaded top of the
shock absorber rod through-the bracket --is a real pain because it ju
st slides inside the assembly even with a very little force of friction whi
le pushing it in. To avoid it you have to compress the springs. -I welded
short strong ears to the upper and the lower tubes, compressed the assembl
y, wrapped a heavy steel wire around the ears to hold it compressed, and it
was easy to install. After installation you just cut and remove the wire.
=0AI do not know if the need for that pre compressing was caused by my wron
g installation, or if it is a standard thing, anyway, be careful because yo
u might get into a troublesome project.=0A=0AJerzy=0ATHANKS!=0A=0A=0A=0A___
