To avoid it you have to compress the springs. -I welded short strong ears to the upper and the lower tubes, compressed the assembl y, wrapped a heavy steel wire around the ears to hold it compressed, and it was easy to install. After installation you just cut and remove the wire. =0AI do not know if the need for that pre compressing was caused by my wron g installation, or if it is a standard thing, anyway, be careful because yo u might get into a troublesome project.=0A=0AJerzy=0ATHANKS!=0A=0A=0A=0A___ _____________________________=0A=0AFrom: Galin Hernandez =0ATo: kis-list@matronics.com=0ASent: Fri, April 16, 2010 7:14:42 PM=0ASu bject: Re: KIS-List: Re: check springs=0A=0AOn Fri, Apr 16, 2010 at 1:33 PM , Richard Trickel wrote:=0A=0AGalien=0A>It is p robably not the shock absorber that you here but the springs themselves.. - That absorber should last forever since it is for a car which sees a li ttle more action than an airplane will ever see.-- If you really need t o take it apart just remove the top nut and get the tail down to allow the threaded area clear the upper bracket.- remove the rubber donut and pull the upper tube off to expose the springs..- Try greasing the springs whic h rub on the tube,- you will see the shock and can move it up and down to see if it is good.=0A>Rich=0A>=0A>--- On Fri, 4/16/10, Galin Hernandez wrote:=0A>=0A>=0A>>From: Galin Hernandez =0A>>Subject: Re: KIS-List: KIS TRI Nose Leg=0A>>To: kis-list@matronics .com=0A>>Date: Friday, April 16, 2010, 9:04 AM=0A>>=0A>>=0A>>Sorry to hear the damage, but you are OK which is the important thing.
