Hello Graham, my name is Bob Bohemier a previous TR-1 owner.
I am sorry to hear about your problem with your airplane.
Perhaps I can help with the nose wheel gear leg.
Two years ago I crashed my TR-1 due to a malfunction in the left
wing control system. The aircraft crashed left wing down in a dense
forest. The airplane was destroyed but many components survived. The
nose gear leg was one of those components. It is the streamlined airfoil
type. I never had any problems with this component in over 500 T/L
cycles.
The leg and lower wheel assembly seem to be undamaged. The steel
shaft that is inserted in the top leg assembly is bent but that part can
be replaced.
If you have an interest in this gear assembly you can contact me
by phone (417-469-5657) or E-mail.
Take care and good luck with your airplane. Bob

G'day back Guys
Thanks everyone for ur
concerns and suggestions ...very much appreciated ...
Have been away since the prang ..but got out to the Plane
again today ... Pulled the S/plugs ..and found #2 s/plug end smashed
..and also the Piston top has puncture holes rite through .. all other
s/plugs look ok ...but a couple of other piston tops have 'pitting' ...
Have talked to the Engine builder ( specializes in Performance
and Race engine builds ) and he will pull the engine as soon as i get it
to him ...
Looks like the Valve timing got out of sync with the pistons
... Timing belt and all pulleys all look fine though ....and don't know
how that ties in with the Oil issues ....
Anyway the engine tear-down will tell the story though ..
Thx again ..for now ..
Graham

We later swiched to a round tube of 4130. If you can
get some 2inch .095 wall tube you could weld that in. The airfoit tube
requires stiffiners and though better looking was not as strong as the
round tube. |You cand build a fairing onto the tube with glass and
foam.
Rich
Sorry to here about the mishape. Have you found the
final cause?

G'Day guys,
Recently swapped out the
Subaru engine (158hp ) for a Zero time 195hp Subaru in my KIS TRI ...
Have had over Temp Oil pressure probs ...but was thinking the engine was
running in ok as Oil Temp were coming down ..
However yesterday during another short test flt the
Oil Pressure dropped ..and after an engine surge the engine quit dead ..
Landed 50mtr short of the Runway ...Damage is ..one
smashed Prop Blade and one Nose Gear leg ..
So LOOKING to ask if anyone can give me a lead to a
replacement nose gear Leg ..It has the Streamlined steel leg ... Even a
lead onto the Streamlined profile steel supply would be great as i could
remake the leg if i had a piece of the Streamlined Steel Stock .
Any help would be great
