ome down with some more time on the engine. My pitch forces seem to be a lo
t better than the original with my wider chord elevator.

Subject: | Re: VG's for a propeller |
Hi Tim,
-
I really want to get the airplane to the point where I can fly it anywhere
at anytime and not have temperature problems and I have a ways to go to get
there.- I've been looking at the dual pass oil coolers.- I'll probably
have to get one.- I'm interested to see how fast this thing is too!
-
Cheers,
Scott

Scott,
-
More brake in time could help bring the oil-temp. down. Although, as you
go to higher power settings you will make more heat, as I know you know.
-
A couple of years ago I was talking to a Stewart Warner rep about a more ef
ficient oil cooler / heat exchanger, of a similar size as the one I have, i
n order-to make a switch easier. He asked me if mine was a single or dual
pass. Of course I didn't know. After checking-it out, it-is a single p
ass, of course. They do make a dual pass that is very close to the same phy
sical size and much better at cooling. Something you might consider if you
haven't all ready.
-
I am near Phoenix, AZ and oil cooling is a problem in the summer. I think I
recall that you are in CA, if so then that isn't as bad.
-
I think we are all interested to hear what your max speed / cruise speeds a
re! (SUPER KIS)

It's going well.- My main problem is high oil temps.- I opened up the c
ooling exit and added a fixed cowl flap and the CHTs are good now.- One o
f my exhaust pipes runs close to the oil sump which may be heating the oil.
- The engine also only has 6 or 7 hours on it at flight power so the oil
temp may come down with some more time on the engine.- My pitch forces se

I'm getting 130 KIAS at about 110-120 HP without wheel pants.

I refuse to put something that ugly on my beautiful polished carbon fiber p
rince prop.-
-
It might work though.- Do a search on laminar separation bubbles.- That
's what they are looking at.- Some sailplane guys put that kind of thing
on their wings.- I would think that it's better to put the tape just prio
r to the pont of max thickness so you get some laminar flow on the leading
edge.-
