    Subject: Re: Exhaust question
I would go for stainless for sure since the added cost in a custom exhaust i s small. I used a US company called Aircraft Exhaust for my lycoming 360. They sen d stubby stacks to bolt to the exhaust ports and a collector for the end and you make a mock up with PVC pipe. You send them the mock up and they fabri cate it. With the straight six I would make two 3 to 1 manifolds which woul d be identical if possible. My exhaust in ceramic coated on the outside, but the now everyone coats insi de and out. Ceramic coating helps keep the heat in the exhaust and not unde r the cowl. There are some pictures of my exhaust on bobs website. An internet search turns up a few sho ps that make stainless steel exhaust manifolds. Are exhaust manifolds normal ly stainless or mild steel? What advantage is there in a stainless steel exh aust manifold over mild steel other than longevity? > > Thanks > > Mike > > ========================== ========= ========================== ========= ========================== ========= ========================== ========= >
