Hello Jerry,
To the best of my knowledge there are no KIS aircraft in Ohio. The closest KIS
TR-1s to that area are:
George Moore - Jackson, Michigan
Evan Carew - Beverly Hills, Michigan
Older KIS owned by Ed Forester - Fischers, Indiana (this airplane currently being
advertised for sale).
There is another TR-1 build in mid to south eastern Indiana near the Illinos border
but I have been unable to locate this one. This guy is a Kitfox builder and
would be in his late 70s. He bought the kit for cross country flying. This
airplane should be flying.
Mr. Elden - Zelienople, Pennsylvania; This is under construction and very far
along and can be seen at EAA chapter 857.
Jerry, Do you still have the Kindig KIS TR-1 N94K (#094 or #095)? Can you inform
me as to the status of this airplane? The family is attempting to track down
as many kits as we can find.
Best Regards,
Mark Trickel

Thank everyone the provided input on KIS TR-1 near Ohio.
The new owner of N94K lives in Ohio...the FAA paperwork is not finalized
and when it does I will notify others of the ownership transfer.
The SN for N94K is 095. The airplane does not have a current condition
inspection.

Mark,
If you're trying to track down various kits, KIS TR-1c #51 built by Richard Warden
likely flew it's final flight on May 26, 2012. During the landing rollout
the weld attaching the left rudder pedal & brake failed resulting in an inability
to maintain directional control (no left rudder or brake). The plane departed
the runway to the right at Roche Harbor (Friday Harbor, WA) and eventually
came to rest with the nose caught in a sheep fence along the runway. The landing
gear collapsed, prop strike, damage to the wings and fuselage. My insurance
company totaled the plane.
Thankfully, nobody was hurt.

Barry; Do you know where is this kit located? I know several persons
that might be interested in buying a cruiser kit.
Also, I heard through some contact in El Salvador that a group of
investors is interested in buying PULSAR and getting it running again.
It will depend if the El Salvador government auctions off PULSAR and all
its assets. If so, they are going to see if they can put in a winning
bid and try to make it work. BUt they are only interested if they can
get the assets at a good price. These guys are very successful
Salvadoran businessmen with enough assets to have a good shot at making
it work. They are more interested in the 4 seat Cruiser than any of the
other designs but will be doing whatever makes most business sense.
Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Our EAA Chapter is recieving a complete KIS Cruiser kit that is
partialy completed. We will be selling this as soon as the paperwork is
completed. Any idea what the value is? Looks fairly complete, but has no
engine. Get ready to make an offer.

Hello Mark, You wrote: "The family is attempting to track down as many kits

As time goes by I reflect more and more with growing admiration and respect
for Rich and what he created with the KIS family of aircraft. I think that
it would be a fine tribute to the memory of Rich to have a listing of all
the KIS kits, finished airplanes, and their status.
If you were to formalize your track down effort with some sort of a format
that we could contribute to and ultimately access I would greatly appreciate
it. Something like this?
Kit Number: 116
Kit Type: KIS TR-1
Original Purchaser: Owen C. Baker
Date Purchased: 09/05/1997
Builder: Owen C. Baker
First Flight: 11/17/2003
Current Owner: Owen C. Baker
Flight Time: 373 Hours as of 06/25/2012
Engine: TCM IO-240 B9B
Location: Fairfax, VA
Thank You,
OC
