Subject: | "Glass Panel" Installation Begins |
Today, October 6, 2012, I flew the airplane to the David Wayne Hooks
airport and the new glass panel installation began. After getting the
airplane into the hangar it was time to start removing the old panel.

First I removed the bottom instrument section (Clock, Fuel Level and Fuel
Pressure gauges).

Next I removed the right side engine instrument panel (Oil Temperature, Oil
Pressure, Voltmeter, Ammeter, Exhaust Gas Temperature and Cylinder Head
Temperature). The Autopilot and Altitude hold modules were then removed as
well as the Autopilot GPS selector switch. I didn=92t get to remove the
primary flight instruments today so these will be removed next. With these
instruments panels removed and the exposed wires hanging everywhere the
airplane looks real bad. It actually hurt a little seeing the panel in such
state of disassembly. I just hope we can get the new panel installed and
working correctly without too many problems.
I will be spending all of my free time for the foreseeable future working
on the airplane and Millie told me she will help out too. If everything
goes as planned, I hope to have the airplane back in the air towards the
end of November or beginning of December. Let=92s see if this works out.
