I believe an automotive strut is used in the TR4. I can't be more specific as I've never removed mine. Didn't know anyone besides me and Bob Reed were still building, albeit very slowly. For the caster type nose gear, the springs are die springs from McMaster.com. The shock is from Pep Boys and it needs an extension you make from threaded rod and a coupler nut that can also be bought from McMaster. Now the big questions are the part numbers... What type of nose gear are you getting? Are there any steerable nose gears out in the field?
