Subject: | Nose wheel assembly damage. |
We completed a detailed inspection of the airplane and the damage is minor.
YAAAAY! I will need a small stainless steel patch on the firewall, a new L
bracket, a new steel pin, some minor fiberglass work and new piece of
exhaust. It will take longest (1-2 weeks) to have the different parts
fabricated and shipped to me. After that is should take another week to
reassemble everything and have her back in the air. Here you can see the
broken exhaust pipe and the damage it did to the nose wheel assembly.
The broken exhaust pipe was behind the other one so you could not see it
during a normal pre-flight inspection. Murphy is alive and well in aviation.

Hi Galin,
Glad to hear that it will be a pretty quick fix.
You might want to think about sending the exhaust to Aircraft Exhaust or som
eone to copy it and make a nice stainless steel exhaust. The other pipes m
ay fail soon too.

Exactly what I was thinking about doing. I found a small crack in the other
pipe.
