You probably know the KIS better than any of us on this forum, so not much I can add about the design itself. Buildning and flying the KIS have been a great experience for me. I have sometimes been thinking about changing the KIS for something more powerful and faster, but always ended up concluding me KIS suits me best. It have been very simple to maintain. Keep it simple is not only good for building, but also for operating and maintenance. The keep it simple philosophy should also make it possible to get hour KIS back in the air quickly. This past weekend I made the long trip to pick up the McCormick TR-1C. She has a new home at my house, and the family is very excited we have a KIS back after Rich had both of his stolen from him. She needs a lot of work, a past owner wasn't very nice to her, but thanks to her most recent owner Kevin, she was saved from the junk yard and I can't thank him enough for that. Attached are a couple of pics - one as I rolled up to the house after the 20 hour nonstop ride from Minnesota, the other is me, sister Carol (already screaming to get out), and brother Eric in the pilots seat. In the paperwork was yet another lead on a TR-1 - Roland MacDonald from Southern Pines, NC It was sold and the paperwork is incomplete but it is a flying KIS, N94MK. As far as we can tell there was no damage whatsoever to the gear tube. I got a reply from Matronics saying the picture can't be forwarded so here is another smaller version of the same picture just in case. Here is the picture of the disassembled nose gear assembly with a new shock absorber next to it. An extension is added to the top part of the shock absorber with two suspension coils that are also part of the assembly as spacers. You can see the top part of the stock shock that must be cut off in order for it to fit inside the assembly. From: "mark_trickel" Mike and other TR-4 builders and owners, The complete nose gear assembly sans the shock and spring set that goes inside is still available from Lyle Hendrick. The current price is $2800 US dollars plus shipping. Lyle made only 25 of these nose gear assemblies for Tri-R, so the rest of the fleet has either the early straight steerable gear assembly or none at all. Also available now is the retractable steps. Not sure what the cost is on this item but Lyle can fill these orders should any builders or owners be interested. Attached is a picture of the nose gear recently shipped to Dennis F. in Texas Also attached is a picture of the step set.
