Sometime ago there was a mention of a method to recharge the struts and if somebody could point me in that direction I would appreciate it. Thanks Mike ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 09:18:31 PM PST US From: Galin Hernandez Subject: Re: KIS-List: Gas Struts TR-4 The ones I have are GRUDEN gas spring but not sure if they are 6 or 8mm ones. http://www.guden.com/Control/Standard-Gas-Springs On Fri, May 16, 2014 at 12:03 AM, Mike Pienaar wrote: > Hi All, > > Does any body have the specs or the name of the manufacturer for the gas > struts that came with the TR-4 to hold the doors open, I wiped my struts > with acetone and that took off all the markings > > I installed my brackets to conform with the origal struts but they are too > weak and I cannot find replacement struts have the same overall length. > > Sometime ago there was a mention of a method to recharge the struts and if > somebody could point me in that direction I would appreciate it. > > Thanks > > Mike > > * > > > * > > ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 09:32:42 PM PST US From: "Tim Yoder" Subject: RE: KIS-List: Gas Struts TR-4 I did that for my TR-1 struts. I got a steel pipe, 1 1/2" ID I think, long enough to hold the strut, capped both ends, you have to seal the threads, drill and tap one cap for a Schrader valve. insert the struts and fill the tube with Nitrogen. I was able to fit four of my struts in my tube. The original rating was 25 lbs. and with the refill they came out at 40 lbs and work much better and last for years.
