    From: "fasilpereira" <fasilpereira@hotmail.com>
Bob, I noticed that you've cut the capacitive fuel level sender in order to install it on the wing due to cracks on the sender tubing after bending. My sender was installed on the inboard wing rib, but on the upper part of the rib. Ted installed it bent up on the inboard part of the wing and pointing down toward the wing tip. This setup will not provide good measurements and I'm thinking on changing that. To correct this issue I'm thinking on cutting the sender as you did, since there is not enough bendable lengh to bend the sensor down so that it touches the bottom of the wing skin. Did you tested your setup? Did it worked properly? What is the brand and the model of your sender? P.S.: I tried to see the pictures of your wing leak test but the link seem to be broken -------- Fabricio Pereira Engineer / Pilot Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=423962#423962

Galin, what about the forces to set the second notch? Is it acceptable on normal flap operating speeds? About the deflections, I've seen on an old post something about 10 and 20 deg. What are the correct numbers (0/10/20 or 0/12/24)? Fabricio -------- Fabricio Pereira Engineer / Pilot Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=423963#423963

    KIS!
    From: "mark_trickel" <marktrickel@gmail.com>
I delayed in posting this information as I have been real busy working on my KIS every single day. After one of the coldest, and snowiest winters I can ever remember I got the bug for warm weather and rode down to SNF for a little sunshine, and airplanes. I also stopped by Galins hanger for a close look at his real nice TR-4. His craft sports a clear coated white pearl finish, leather upholstery, and an IFR glass panel. We had a small KIS reunion on Saturday. In the attached photo left to right are: myself, KIS engineer Mark Kettering, world class Cruiser pilot Galin Hernandez, and Al Rosa. In the foreground is Marks Aeromonetum 1.3 liter 100hp conversion. Mark also had a 1.5 liter 117hp version. My latest searches for KIS aircraft turned up a few interesting finds. Posted on YouTube is a TR-1 Go-Pro cockpit view of a first flight. I dont know any details about this aircraft other than what is shown. It appears to have a Continental cowling, and I believe the builders name is Robert Wallach and the airplane is based in Riverside, CA. I also believe that Robert as not the original kit owner as he appears to be a bit young. Congratulations Robert on a job well done. I posted an invite on his video to come to our forum so we can get a few more details on this build. I also sent information about this builder to Richs daughter Nancy to see if she could locate him, she lives 15 minutes from the Riverside airport. Take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mtPj-MA84c Another search turned up of all things a French KIS, yes thats right! The only other information Ive been able to find is that it is kit #34. I dont recall Rich ever mentioning a KIS in France. This kit may have been sold by UK dealer Brian Davies, and it would have been delivered in late 1992 or early 1993. Robert R. check out the intake scoop on this one, I think you may have been on to something when you were formulating yours. Picture Attached Another tidbit showed upYou all may remember this guy Barry bought the Kindig TR-1 from Jerry Conners not too long ago well I guess it was more of a project than he wanted to deal with the airplane was listed at Barnstormers, and eBay, it sold in May, for a ridiculously low price - I believe it was around $13,000. Barry had the airplane apart, and was ready to install all new windows. The aircraft has a new registration number. The ad mentioned that he was going certified. I hope the new owner drops by the forum for the wealth of knowledge that is still here. Moving onwell KIS fans may recall TR-1 240X, it was for sale forever, and it was finally bought by Ron Russo. He is located maybe 15 minutes South of Lakeland, FL. A recent search popped up noting the airplane was again for sale. I dont know if that is an old ad or it is current. Ron seems to be a pretty well qualified pilot he offers initial flight testing in a variety of aircraft. Rob has a website at: http://ronsflying.com/test-pilot-services.html Another TR-1 builder showed up on the Pulsar forum a while back. His name is Dan Ryalls. He was asking about what kind of resin to use as his had expired, he listed the airplane as a Pulsar Sport 150. You know, I really do not recognize or except that name, the Pulsar clown Degani never made any TR-1 kits they only bought back and resold TR-1 kits, and so far Ive only found one case of a resale. It is possible there are more resales out there but the way I see it is a KIS TR-1 is a KIS TR-1, and that is that. I tried to reach out to Dan but I did not receive any reply which leads me to believe he is an older original owner, and just not too good at computing. KIS listers may also recall Jason Hills sad report on the demise of his beautiful Warden KIS TR-1C built by Richs employees Chuck and Steve. I am most certain this ship will take to the air again. It was bought from the insurance company by Wentwoth Aircraft. Oshkosh, and SNF attendees should be familiar with this company as they are always present at these shows peddling there savaged wares. I was told the airplane was sold as one complete lot, they did not break it up and sell it in pieces. I put the fuel senders in from the wingtip on both my TR-1 and the TR-4 pro ject. -You can custom order senders up to around 10 feet and it is not mu ch extra. -I put them in at an angle looking from the wing leading edge s o they enter near the top of the wing root rib and the tip of the sender is just above the lower wing skin at or near the wing root rib. -No need to bend the tube. -The senders work great on my TR-1, very linear, and the senders are removable out of the wingtip. -I used the newer princeton sen ders that just use a pipe theard fitting and a separate box for the electro nics. -I highly recommend it, much easier install. -Also, the newer "gl ass" avionics needs the newer 0-5V output.=0A=0ACheers,=0AScott=0A=0A=0AOn Thursday, May 29, 2014 7:04 AM, fasilpereira <fasilpereira@hotmail.com> wro ail.com>=0A=0ABob,=0A=0AI noticed that you've cut the capacitive fuel level sender in order to install it on the wing due to cracks on the sender tubi ng after bending.=0A=0AMy sender was installed on the inboard wing rib, but on the upper part of the rib. Thanks Scott! That's probably the best way to go, but my wings are already closed and with the aluminum insert installed on the inboard rib. I want to keep the rework to the minimum level in order to get it flying as soon as possible.... Fabricio: I actually measured my flap extension and they are 0, 12 and 24 degrees. I find the 2nd "notch" (24 degrees) needs more force than the 1st "notch" (12 degrees) but nothing very hard. It is a good thing since it is a noticeable difference in force between the two flap extensions. It makes it very difficult to accidentally select 24 degrees. Thank you for the clarificacin Galin. My name is Siddartha Bravo and I'm the current owner of (N528BR) this beautiful flying machine, I called little "B". In honor of her big sister Blanquita Galin's TR-4. I'm not the builder of this TR-1, the original owner and builder was Charles Traughber. This TR-1 was built in on Florida. Back in 1996 and the kit number is 043. Is powered by a O-290 D. Little B is currently being painted and having its panel upgraded to a G3X system. > On May 29, 2014, at 18:11, "Galin Hernandez" <galinhdz@gmail.com> wrote: > > Mark; the video is on my good friend Sid Bravo and his TR-1. I found that after I built my TR-1, that has a full flap setting of 28 deg., that when lifted the trailing edge of the flap during the preflight inspection ( flaps extended ) that the slop in the control system allowed the flaps to only have 21 deg. Simulating in-flight air loads. I extended the flap selector slot and added a third notch so that I get 28 deg. loaded. Maybe the 4 is a more rigid system then the 1. I know of another TR-1 that has the same condition. I would be interested in others experience with this test.
