Charlie Smith just forwarded a note that indicated that Jerzy
Krasinski=99s Cruiser was destroyed in a fire. I am very sad to
hear this, as I have seen this plane and he did a really nice job. I am
not sure if he is still a member of the matronics list, but if so, my
condolence on his loss.

Bill,
Just discovered Jerzy's Cruiser was destroyed in a fire at start-up late
last month. I checked Matronics and saw nothing there. Thought I'd
alert you since he may need some comforting words from the group at this
time. I couldn't find anything on Google about it so I presume he
wasn't injured. At least I hope he's ok.

Bill, Thank for posting this information. Words cannot describe how bad I feel
when yet another KIS is in the totaled column. I fired an email off to AIG for
more information. I may bid on it - does anybody have any idea what a burned
up IO-360 is worth (probably little value in the rest of the airplane but if I
can get my hands on a TR-4 I'd mold up parts for that one too)? I did not realize
Jersy had a MT prop on the airplane.
Robert - Its composite, and as long as the spars are intact that puppy can be brought
back to life.
Bill - Is there any update on Charlie Smiths TR-4? Is he still building or maybe
even flying it?
Well...since this is a really bad post I got more bad news I been sitting on that
I was going to post on my next update but WTH - We lost another TR-1, not totaled
but will need lots of attention. The 3rd owner of Ralph Bernhardt's KIS
was making a nasty crosswind landing, when the wind planted the wing tip first,
and the rest of the plane hit hard collapsing the nose gear while shearing
off the prop. More on this in my update later this week.
Jersy I am so sorry for you loss, my thoughts are with you.
In sadness,
Mark T.

Graham,
I am glad, too.
Good to remember that the fire would not stop until all the fuel boils out of
the fuel filter. The bigger the filter the bigger the trouble.
Another thing, in case of an engine fire do not blow from the fire extinguisher
into the cooling inlets at the front of the cowl. . That is against the hot
air flow. Blow it into the exhaust of the cooling air at the bottom of the cowl.
Regards,
Jerzy

was it an engine back fire that started it?.. A friend's RV6A caught
fire just after he had topped off
the tanks and was trying to startup. He got a back fire that started
the fire. luckily he got it
put out with minor damage inside the engine cowling.
