Long time. Sorry Ive been out of touch for quite a while. I also had to miss Oshkosh this year. Bummer. How are you? I hope all is well. Im again considering buying George Moores TR-1, especially since he lowered the price. I bought a Bellanca Cruisair over a year ago, and its STILL in annual. Im about to put it up for sale and see if I get any bites. My thinking now is, I want less of an ongoing project plane. I know Ill have some tweaking here and there with Georges plane, but essentially its a nearly new (turn-key) plane (especially compared to my Bellanca). The other draw for me is ongoing usage and ownership costs, which promises to be substantially lower with the TR-1. My only gripe about Georges plane is his high empty weight and corresponding low useful load. I think I can live with that, though. Anyway, Id also be interested in maybe seeing the two TR-1s that are for sale in California, if theyre anywhere close to me. Any chance you could put me in touch with Randy O. and Michael G.? I couldnt find them in the member list. Thanks! Jarod > On Jul 5, 2015, at 5:13 AM, mark_trickel wrote: > > > Here is the current for sale list that will be displayed at Oshkosh. I would like to offer you y TR-1. I have done everything you can think of so, if you are looking for a plane that there is no need to do anything let me know. I bought it for my 30th B-day and I havent had a chance to fly it much but i was able to upgrade lots and lots of things. Im Contractor and I been overseas over a year now and after updating everything on my plane I was informed that im getting deploy again so I really dont see the point on keeping this nice Tr-1 grounded. I would rather sell it to someone that is familiar with the plane. Anyways let me know. Ill be in California, Los angeles area on the 11th and 12th of this month. Thanks for getting in touch. I may very well be interested, depending on what youd be asking for it. Im looking at George Moores plane, partially because its one of the only ones I can afford right now. Anyway, Id love to talk to you. Feel free to call me any time. My number is 773-398-1967. I would also be interested in sharing a plane. Cheers! It was a great show and I am getting ready to post the Oshkosh report this weekend. You know I had a feeling you were going to go for the Bellanca 14-19 even though I tried to talk you out of it. My dad and I had a bunch of certified airplane projects, and I learned they can be expensive to own and maintain, plus you need an A&P, and a AI Im sticking with the homebuilts unless I hit the lottery. The KIS for sale list changed considerably since Oshkosh. I am sorry to report the Moore KIS TR-1 may have a new owner by now. There was a fellow interested in the airplane that was supposed to go see, and fly it late last month, but I have not heard anything yet. There was also a second interested party ready to buy - he is awaiting the outcome. When George lowered the price he received many inquiries so I am reasonably certain he has a buyer. I sent you some information awhile back about the Kindig TR-1 that one was last in Michigan owned by Pete Ricard. He paid over $20,000 for it from the forth owner who had taken it apart and was ready to put windows in it. Pete put the new windows in it and then decided to sell it. Unfortunately he was in a hurry and put it on EBay, it went for $8900 less than the value of the engine alone! The plane was a little rough but the third owner upgraded the nose gear, but without a doubt this was the buy of the century. I am not sure who owns this one now but Ill find out eventually. Randys airplane may still be available he does have an interested party, but that guy needs to sell the airplane he now has first. The price of this one in in the $50,000 range. Its a nice airplane I have seen this one years ago, it could use a little tweaking but the airplane really boogies along. Siddartha Bravos Traughler TR-1 is also a very nice airplane, it has brand new paint, and a Garmin glass panel with 320 power. Im guessing its in the $35,000 to $40,000 range. I dont think the interior is completely finished off, but still a real nice airplane. The 320 powered KISes are the bomb I think even Scott S. would agree. Michael Guy, and Bob Robinson are what I call the quiet sales. They both posted here they would consider selling but as far as I know are not actively advertising. I will send you the addresses I have for them but I dont know if Michaels addy is current, you may have to resort to facebook. Both of these are 320 powered. Another 320 powered TR-1 for sale is Jessie Wrights located in Colorado. Although I told him he needs to fly it around a while and enjoy it after years of building he still wants to sell. I dont know much about this one - he is asking $30.000. He is around the forum here somewhere. There is a phone number for him posted. Elden Lorahs TR-1 is ready to fly but has not flown. He is negotiable in price - I set the price at about $32,000 in worth with a 0 time O-200, new radios, and round gauges. The engine and panel alone are worth about $17,000. I will be going to see this one as soon as he recovers from surgery. The last prospect is the Bernhardt TR-1 in Texas. Its bent and needs work - the current owner is asking $19,000, and is negotiable. It needs a new prop, engine rebuild (probably just new bearings), nose gear, and the wing tip glued back together probably around $10,000 to bring to back to flying condition. I know there are others out there somewhere I am missing about 40 TR-1s. They are hidden around the world waiting to be discovered. Some of them may even be flying. We all want a nice flying airplane for little money but there is no such thing as a cheap airplane, and when you buy a cheap airplane you will undoubtedly pay in the end.
