Dave Tate, the builder, originally mounted twin Halogen lights in the wing
leading edge. It was very easy to change from twin halogen to LED.
Here is a video of the finished project:

Hello Pastor Mac, You wrote:
1) "I didn't want to cut into the wing."
I suppose that it would be possible to cram a small automotive LED light
facing forward
into the wing tip of a KIS aircraft and call it a landing light, but I don't
think that any of
the responders to your posting thought it was a good idea. I agree with
them. Also forming
a clear acrylic lens for the light in the forward end of the wing tip would
not be easy.
2) "Didn't know what tool to use to cut into the wing?"
a) Draw a rectangle on the leading edge of the wing at the proper location
and the proper size for your
intended landing light.
b) Use a step-drill bit to drill one hole of the appropriate size at each
corner of the rectangle
so that the corners of the hole will be rounded and not a sharp 90 degrees.
c) Use a 32 teeth per inch hacksaw blade held either in a gloved hand or
vice grip pliers to
saw out the rectangle.
d) Clean up the results as needed with sandpaper on a stick or a smoothing
file.

Thanks Bill! Didn't know what tool to use to cut into the wing? I know you
can't use a jig saw. I also just had the plane repainted.
