Thanks, Torgeir. I was afraid I had to rub two flintstones to produce heat, but producing a voltage is easier! :-) I have now downloaded and printed the Service Information and will check if my Mascot power supply can be as subtle as to produce exactly, er ... 42.92 mV. If not, I'll borrow something from a ham friend. Thanks again. Cheers, Michel

Subject: 912S - Powerfin Prop Now what?
--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Randy Daughenbaugh" <rjdaugh@rapidnet.com> I have a 912S and a nice Powerfin prop that I am not smart enough to hook together. The mounting bolts that come with the prop have Allen heads that fit through the mounting holes on the engine. 13 mm holes and heads same with a little clearance?? I suspect that I need something like bushings to take the slack out between the 8 mm bolt and the 13 mm holes and then a larger washer that captures the bushing and won't go through the hole. Again ???? It seems like they should have come with the prop or engine or the extension. ??? I also have a 2" prop extension with the same issues, but once I solve one the other should be identical with 2" longer bolts. Am I on the right track? Who has these parts? Skystar? Powerfin? Rotax? Thanks for eliminating my ignorance in this area. Randy - Series 5/7 - It's the little things.......

--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Bob Robertson" <aerocon1@telusplanet.net> Randy... Wadda you mean "not smart enough"!!!! You already figured out that the 8mm bolts won't work in a 13mm hole. ; ) Actually, there are some "spigot" nuts (shouldered nuts) that press into the 13mm holes and have an 8mm thread. These nuts will protrude through the front of the prop flange and also act as dowels. Your prop should have come with a hub that is drilled to accept these dowels. If you are using a 2" prop extension you will need to have the extension drilled to accept the dowels. Any of the Rotax Service Centers can supply you with the nuts. You will have to replace the bolts you recieved with the Powerfin. Make sure the new bolts are also 8mm 8.8... (Don't get any of the high strength metric bolts as they are too brittle and can (will) fracture. Hope this helps Bob Robertson Light Engine Services Ltd. Rotax Service Center St. Albert, Ab. --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Bob Robertson" <aerocon1@telusplanet.net> Hi John, Metric bolts, like SAE bolts have "identifiers" on the hex head. Metric bolts will have their "strength rating" listed numerically. AN bolts are close to SAE Grade 5 in their strength. The equivelant rating for a metric bolt would be 8.8. The higher the number the stronger and more bittle the bolt will be. I can't remember the number of the high strength metric bolt . 8.8 is what you would want to use for props. regards Bob ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Anderson" <janderson412@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: 912S - Powerfin Prop Now what? > --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "John Anderson" <janderson412@hotmail.com> > > > "Bob Robertson" wrote: > > > Don't get any of the high strength metric > bolts as they are too brittle and can (will) fracture. > > > Tell us more about this Bob, how are they idenifiable?? > > > From: "Bob Robertson" <AEROCON1@TELUSPLANET.NET> > To: <KITFOX-LIST@MATRONICS.COM> > Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: 912S - Powerfin PropNow what? > Date: Wed, 7 Jan 2004 22:53:21 -0700 > > -- Kitfox-List message posted by: "Bob Robertson" <AEROCON1@TELUSPLANET.NET> > > Randy... > > Wadda you mean "not smart enough"!!!!
