I think that there are some changes inside Russia and may be it is posible to fly without a navigator. But you have to be sure, as their behaviour is always the same: No problems.......problems. Matevz Lenarcic was about to fly across Russia last year. Final problem was..... Canada. You can contact him and ask him about the new russian regulations ( matevz@lenarcic.com). He lives in Slovenia. After all that gap-sealing talk, I got myself a 3M 2" wide transparent tape. I intend to put them in pair with 1" overlapping and stick them to the upper side of the stab, and the lower side of the elevator. Not that I need more elevator authority but just to find out how much it influences the controls. I'll let you know how it works ... next week-end if the weather is nice. Cheers, Michel

Kurt, I don't believe Lance supplies MP gauges and yes I think you'll do better if you buy one because the numbers you get will then mean something and it'll be easier to compare with what others are getting. Try ebay. I've seen several go for around $50 or less. > > Another more minor issue. The FlowScan meter seems to > not be accurate in fuel consummed if you go above the > max reading of 10 gph FF. Have you done the calibration on it? Mine is the 0-10 unit also, but my full power climbs don't go more than 9.5 so it's not a problem. It's always been accurate throughout the range. A simple call to the company might yield some good insight. Darrel

--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Rick" <turboflyer@comcast.net> I purchased one of the cheap non TSo ones from Spruce. Would love to have the new digital with lights but hey need to finish this engine. I did replace the fuel flow with a JPI and it is really nice, accurate and gives a lot of information for the buck. Yep, not much compares to the fox with a turbo. Love the faces when running beta on landing. Even the really old farts that never get off the bench come over and want to know how I put that turbine in :). -----Original Message----- From: owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com]On Behalf Of kurt schrader Subject: RE: Kitfox-List: NSI EA-81 and CAP 140 operation questions --> Kitfox-List message posted by: kurt schrader <smokey_bear_40220@yahoo.com> Rick, I have the 3A TB, but I have had mixture issues. But steady pressure equals steady mixture. The vacuum gage is working right. It is just a vacuum gage! I need a boost gage or MP gage. Did you buy your own or get it from NSI? Another more minor issue. The FlowScan meter seems to not be accurate in fuel consummed if you go above the max reading of 10 gph FF. On the good side, of the three I have flown, my KF beats the Cub and Champ hands down. Kurt S. __________________________________

I think that there are some changes inside Russia and may be it is possible to fly without a navigator. Michel, Actually, the Alaska Airman's Assoc. is making the arrangements for this flight. We have been instructed by the Assoc. that we only need fill out and file the paperwork provided to us. Those without passports need one. (not me) The visa application is for tourism visit. I will in all likelihood have a "navigator" on board weather this is my wife or some other person (need a mistress). I still wait for my Russian AIP. I think it would have been better if I didn't make the request using my State of Alaska e-mail as they might has construed this as a formal "government" request. I will drop your friend Matevz an e-mail for his take on the Russians, but I doubt that he has been to Chukotka. This is the Russian far east. Not many travelers venture there from the west. It used to be (or still is) a Russian submarine base. (Provideniya Bay) I have friends who have been there and they tell me it's quite the experience, very different. I plan to take a few extra pairs of Levi's, always good to have barter. If any of you want to go on this trip it is scheduled for July 31-Aug 1 or Aug 7-8. We still haven't voted yet on the actual date. I have all the flow sheets and applications, declarations etc. and can e-mail if interested. The weather is normally warm and mild that time of year and of course, daylight for 22 hours+. Salmon fishing is very good. Scott in Nome

Thought I would stay with the same Lance motif to make the change easier. I was concerned when you guys talk about 44" etc, but then I remembered that you wrote inches and not lbs. Fourty four lbs would be some boost! I ordered a 0-30 LB gauge from PepBoys for 37.09 after tax. Here is a web page of the same thing. <http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult.asp?Type=Turbo_Boost&Series=Cockpit&Cart=> Now why did I have to go and look that up? I wonder if I shouldn't have ordered this one instead? Ha ha. It is vacuum and boost. Just found it now. And it is cheaper... <http://www.egauges.com/vdo_mult.asp?Type=Turbo_Boost&Series=Vision&Cart=> Kurt S. __________________________________
