But I was gone too. First you should hook up a good meter and then see what it reads with the alternator off, then on. Do this to check your on-board meter to see if you actually have a problem, or just a low meter reading. Other than reading low volts, was there another problem? I think I missed something. Why do you want to charge it more slowly? He has a KF with flat cowling, a 912, and a GTS GMA (in cockpit adjustable) prop. In order to streamline his cowl, He needs to use an 11" spinner. He has a composite 11" spinner, but the cut outs will not fit that wide prop, and the mfgr says not to enlarge the cutouts. I advised him to just buy a blank aluminum spinner and make the cutouts himself. But I also said he should post the same question here to see what others have done for a spinner with that prop. Anyone encounter the same situation? I don't know why his message came out to be unreadable. It looks like he posted in some format that majordomo could not handle. I'll need a new prop too. I see on the Norwegian microlight site that someone is selling a 65" tapered tip WarpDrive prop with Jabiru hub. The price is cheap, about US$ 450. Is it something I should buy? I read on the internet that a lot of WarpDrive props have lost a blade in flight. What would you advice me to do? Thanks in advance, Michel ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 03:40:37 PM PST US From: "Rick" Subject: RE: Kitfox-List: WarpDrive propeller --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Rick" First check and see what warp recommends for the HP/RPM your engine will put out. Second, see what your ground clearance issues are if any. Is it a two or three blade, does it have the nickel leading edge, is it new. Lots to consider. John's method of taking away some of the amps generated seems a workable solution at first glance. However, I've found that often things aren't as easy as that, so asking advice from more experienced folks is a good idea. There may be a charge controlling device that could be adapted to our aircraft to provide the optimum rate of charge. I know that such "smart" devices are available for charging batteries from an AC outlet. If none exist for enhancing mobile charging systems such in vehicles. Perhaps a "techie" could convert one from components in a home charger? Before you buy warp drive which has harmonics problem with direct drive from Jabiru - check with Sensenich Propeller in Florida. Talk to Don he is very helpful and I think for $200 more you can get Sensenich prop in excellent quality that will work perfect on your Jabiru. I'm upgrading my Avid to a Avid Plus - wider, longer and a lot of other improvements but will use Sensenich Prop. Check out my site www.avidflyeraircraft.com to see what I'm doing. Sounds like the carbs need a bit of balancing, In other words the carburator slide is opening a bit wider on one than the other so one cylinder is running a hair richer than the other. Should be fixable with a simple adjustment of the cables to the carbs to equalize the openings.
