Still, when I look at my left elevator trailing edge, slightly higher than the
right, this must induce a slight left roll, doesn't it?

Hi All.
I remember when I was building my Classic IV. How flimsy I thought everything
was (you know, new to this building stuff)!
Anyway, I decided to make mine the "speedster" and of course, that means
gluing in the ribs on the rear end including the elevator.
At that time I thought that these glued in ribs should stiffen things up a
little and make everything that little more rigid.
Then it came time to cover everything with fabric. One of the main points in
the Polyfiber Covering manual, during the shrinking process is, very slowly
and evenly. Don't shrink the fabric too much on one side or you will make a loop
out of your wing.
Michel, could it be that the person who done the fabric job (probably started
on the small surfaces first. I did, in fact I screwed up the rudder and had
cut it off and redo)
could have wing warped the elevator slightly.
I have a trim tab on the right side of the elevator. When I use my trim it is
(which by the way is a RANS retrofit) a large add on the trailing edge, but
so cool for coming down stairs, hands off, for landing. but I see no effect of
pulling the airplane to the left or right when severe trim is used for landing
or just the nudging of the trim wheel for level flight.
So, I think the slight twist has no effect on the flight characteristics. I
am sure we all have a slight twist somewhere and only our wives will ever know.
It is a good thing they don't tell us!

Paul,
Any chance of getting tickets for the Watermellon social early? I'm flying in Friday
morning (via Cessna not Kitfox) with two friends and we'd like to be with
you Friday evening. Would hate to be too late for tickets to the event.
Altho N60FS won't be on floats until this winter, it's time to get some face time
with the sea-plane community. I'll be buying amphibs at Oshkosh.

single engine". After a long time making the decision to offer it for
sale I finally decided to do so. As it is said, "if you don't use it,

It could be, Eric, but we are three Kitfoxes (two model 3 and one model IV)
that has the same asymmetry. It sounds odd if it was unintentional, I think.

Medical:
SPORT PILOT RELAXES MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
According to the final rule, pilots who hold a
recreational certificate
or better, but whose standard or special issuance
medical certificate
has lapsed, will be able to fly under sport pilot
rules with a valid
driver's license and by self-certifying that they are
medically fit to
fly. Pilots whose medical has been revoked, suspended,
or denied by the
FAA will need further review by the FAA and could be
required to obtain
a special issuance certificate. Pilots flying under
the sport pilot
rules
will be able to fly many familiar certified airplanes,
including Piper
J-2 and J-3 Cubs and models from Luscombe,
Taylorcraft, and Ercoupe,
when the rule becomes effective on September 1. The

warned that the

Michel,
Can you simulate this on your computer?
I find that it makes much less difference that you
might think, until you pull "G's". Should you have to
do some 3 G loops in formation with the "Blue Foxes",
you would definately see an effect. In turbulent
Norway, it is more like having your right horn fall
off your helmit.
The boundry layer is pretty thick back there due to
the flat airfoil. I suspect one side is against the
upper layer and the other side against the lower layer
for flutter control.
Remindes me of a friend taking balloon aerobatics.
Twisted ropes can really mess up your bag-overs....

It is still up in the air (pun intended), but I am pretty sure I am Oshkosh
bound this year. Wanted to fly my KitFox IV anphib, but she is down for
repairs, so I will be arriving in a Cessna Spam Can. Oh the shame of it.
I am going to try and meet up with Paul Seehafer Friday night at Acey
Ducey. If you have never been there, it is a great bar. There are hundreds
of signed photos on the walls, all related to aviation. Sort of an Oskosh
version of "The Happy Bottom Riding Club". At 9:30 pm I will stand up on a
chair and ask if there are any Kitfox drivers in the crowd. If you do not
know how to get there, ask any cab driver in Oshkosh.

Oh yeah, you can ride the seaplane bus both ways from the main field for
$2.
The bus is located south of the ultralight runway and runs every half hour.
But buy your tickets at the base as soon as you can as we only sell 500
tickets. And when they're gone they're gone.
It certainly would be nice to put faces with names!

Builders,
I have 2 questions, first off, Great Planes has a strobe kit that is extremely
cheap compared to buying ready-to-use strobes. Is anybody out there using
them, and if so, what do you think of the kit? Secondly, on the Model 4 with
the airfoiled vertical tail kit, it says to set the top gap (between the vert
stab and rudder) at 1.5" and the bottom gap at 2.3". The problem is that the
bearings aren't long enough the get that much gap at the bottom. By the way,
this is a 10 year old model with 4 bearings (the top 3 are
10-32 and the bottom one is 1/4-28). These are the bearings that the previous
owner had put on the plane and appears to be correct as per the old manual. Thanks.

Dan Denny told me that the elevator on my model II was "twisted", because a perfectly
flat one would tend to "hunt" when flying at cruise. Whatever! It is

than a day befor getting a response.Contact the customer service it's on the
website.I know through experience that problems get supervisor attention and
one time Jim Erwin e-mailed me.They are the best supplier Homebuilding has but,
