Don,
I could be wrong,but as I understand it a Private Pilot flying w/o a
medical(but not having been denied one) is a Sport Pilot.I don't THINK you
need anything. Don't know about the BFR.

Jay, Are these like the original "fat, bald" tires?
BTW,price sounds great.Desser just offered a bald tire for a J-3. They
are not made anymore because they are a 4"wheel. They are getting $250 /tire
.With tread they are a bit cheaper.

I live in a small town in East Idaho where I have been asked to set on our
local airport board. Our airport has some problems, one of which is farm
equipment parked around in various places and particularly around the FBO
hanger. It is so bad some days you get caught by Ag cats coming/going and
are unable to see around all the obstructions. Can someone point me in a
direction where I might find information governing the use of airports? Any
thoughts or help would really be appreciated,
Thanks

Thanks all,
Hmmm, reverting back by getting a logbook signoff from a "QUALIFIED"
instructor. I thought I read something where qualified "sport plane" instructors
are not yet identified in the regulation. In other words, you can't use an
ordinary old CFI to do this reverting back? I'm not stating a fact but am
wondering. My local CFI is not up to date on the Sport Flight rules and not sure
he would be willing to make such a log book entry. I guess the BFR is still
in effect.
Both my medical and BFR are expired but I still have a couple weeks
working on the cowl/radiator mod. I think I'll just go get my medical done and
forget about the Sport Pilot until next time.
Thanks,

Dee,
I don't know exactly where you are located, but here is what I suggest.
First, try to work this out locally with the FBO and airport manager. That's
the easiest and best solution. Secondly, if you can't resolve the issue
locally, you can go to the FAA. There are 2 routes to consider. The first is
work
with your local FSDO (If you let me know where you are I can get you the
appropriate phone number) and let them know of your safety concerns. I would
expect them to respond favorably based solely on the issue of aviation safety.
However, if they don't, the other route is go through the FAA Airport
District Office (I think the closest one to you is in Helena, MT). If the airport
receives federal money this issue becomes easier for the feds to deal with
since the airport must only be used for aviation purposes. If federal money is
not used, the FAA is still responsible for safety so they should act
accordingly. Let me know (offline if you want) if you have any problems. Good
luck.

A big thanks to Kurt, Tom, Rick, and Lance Wheeler for all the knowledge and
help and support with this new turbo engine. The Turbo Tiger passed
inspection yesterday and is ready to go!!!
Today the wind is 25, g30 with snow flurries, so it will not be flying
today.

Yes they are the original type of tire for the 8" rim. I think the person to
talk to is Steve? He is the Experimental knowledge person.

As a very low time tail wheel pilot I have a concern about the tires on my
Model
IV.
Jimmie, I am in Australia and have put the same size tyres on as you also
on a MKIV. Over here we call them lawnmower tyres but I suspect they are
the same as yours. They do have a mild tread. We run them at about 14PSI.
With two people on board they squash out just a little. Anyway we love them.
They don't touch the wheel pants like the originals did. They don't get
punctures every time we go near a grass strip from prickles prickles and we
can get tubes for them. This was important because we tended to get leaks
with tubeless due to slight distortion on the inside of the rim where the
brake disc lugs had been welded on. If you are worrying about the tyres re
ground looping I'd say the answer is Groves spring aluminium undercarriage.

Rex
Thank you. My main concern with my tires is the flat profile rather than
the crown that is usually seen on aircraft tires. However, it sounds like
you have proved them to be ok.
I am definitely concerned with ground loops and did order the Grove gear
last Tuesday. Unfortunately it will take six weeks to get the Grove gear.
Thanks again for your reply.
Jimmie

Thanks to all that helped me with this problem. I check with a mechanical
gauge and the oil pressure is ok. So I got a gauge or sender problem. Will
probably invest in an EIS rather invest $200-300 in an old gauge.
Thanks again
