      Hi there

From what I can gather, most of the 582 users cruise at around 6000 RPM.

What RPM settings do you use for climb, and what rate of climb do you
      achieve at your setting?

      Regards
      Roger

Climb is at full throttle and produces around 6200 RPM @ 800-1000 FPM. This
      is controlled by prop pitch.

Either way - injection or not -- oil must be maintained in the strokes.

Point is Injection has a terrific record for dependability. I am not sure
why anyone would want to remove it to be honest.

Oil lines like fuel lines must be replaced as well as filters. I see some
recomomend tygon lines -- they harden.
Alot of this you will remind your self when you do your pre - flight
      walkaround.
2 mins of prevention is easier than re-building your bird.

As far as a long decent lubication is helped buy feeding in throttle to keep
rpm 4000 rpm under load with occasional additional power applied evr 500 ft
      of decent.
you will keep the oil lubircating and keep the engine warmer than decending
for 5 miles at idle alone.
4 strokes will cold shock as well, wether ita lycoming, franklin,
continental or a rotax 912 or 582 you cannot shock cool these especially
in winter weather. 40 F or less.

      Roger,

I cruise at 5700 (90mph) and climb at 6500. "In flight adjustable IVO prop."

The difference in noise level when cruising at 5700 vs 6000 is about double.

      Fuel consumption is also reduced

From what I can gather, most of the 582 users cruise at around 6000 RPM.

What RPM settings do you use for climb, and what rate of climb do you
      achieve at your setting?

      Jimmie,
I Have one also. Tinted. Installation seemed easier than I think the Skystar

      Bottom line- I like it.

While everyone is writing about the Grove gear..

We are wondering how to secure the brake line (the nylon hose) into the
channel that runs down the aft side of the grove gear. I think the manual
recommends using tape but we have polished the
aluminium and want to stay with this rather than paint it and tape would
look out of place on polished aluminium. I tried some silicon in the channel
and then laying the line into it but was not happy with the grip. What have
      others done?

PS Yesterday we hung the prop and fitted the spinner and cowls and then
stood back and admired the lovely lines. The central European weather is
currently "flying feindlich" but "building freundlich."

I used 3M epoxy. Ran a thin bead down the groove, taped the line in with
masking tape til it set up then when tape removed it's difficult to tell
what's holding it in there. Been there for over 4 years now and still
      holding fine.

Has anyone found a source for the coolant now recommend by Rotax? My understanding
it is made by a company by the name of Evans and it is a waterless coolant.

      To the List,

Tarlochan and I are now back home from our trip to the Bahamas. It sure
is a shock getting used to the colder weather in Virginia after
returning from the wonderful weather in the Bahamas. Don Pearsall has
been up to his usual outstanding performance in documenting our trip on
the SportFlight web site. All of the 167 pictures I took on the trip
are now available on the web site, as well as a listing of the route of
travel timing, my lodging costs, and food costs. Shortly I will have a
listing of all my fuel costs. Although it will take some time, I am
now writing up a trip epilog that will describe what we experienced on a
day by day basis. A lot of the pictures will not make too much sense
until you read the epilog. As an example, the bat cave pictures on
Eleuthera Island were taken in total darkness with the only light being
the flash from my digital camera. A single flash light was our only
light source to explore the cave. Hot, humid, damp, slippery and
absolutely no visible light throughout the cave. The epilog will go
      into a more detail description.

      Trip Duration = 11 Days

      <>Total Mileage Traveled = 3,027 Statute (2,630 Nautical)
      <> Over the Bahamas = 1,374 Statute (1,194 Nautical)

Total Flying Time (Hobbs) = 31.7 Hours
Over the Bahamas = 14.9 Hours

      Total Airports Landed = 17

      Different Airports Landed = 15

      Fuel Consumed = 145.35 U.S. Gallons

      Fuel Burn Rate (Rotax 912 ULS) = 4.5 Gal/Hr

Average Cost of Fuel = $2.91 per Gal

      Total Fuel Cost = $423.18

Total Lodging Costs = $1,015.37 (Single room)

      Total Food Cost = $262.00

| Subject: | Motor Mount torque specs? |

I am needing to know the torque specifications for the motor mount bolts for the
      582LC on the Kitfox. I am also looking for a source for tailwheel springs, ie;
from a hardware store so that I don't have to order them.

      Thanks,
      Dwayne
