Since my VNE is 125 mph I will give it a try. Sounds like the key to it is smooth edges and careful cutting and drilling. I also plan to use machine screws and nylon washers instead of rivets. Hope that helps a little. To start with, I was a bit worried, wondering how it would hold at high speed. But my model 3 has 100 MPH as Vne and that's slow anyway. > Of course, I am very careful that not one drop of fuel is coming on it and I apply quite often Johnson's Pledge polish ... smells good too! :-) > > Cheers, > Michel > > do not archive > > ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 05:03:25 AM PST US From: AlbertaIV@aol.com Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Bob,,CHT sensors --> Kitfox-List message posted by: AlbertaIV@aol.com In a message dated 11/24/04 8:04:56 PM Pacific Standard Time, aerocon1@telusplanet.net writes: << removes from your coolant. I am "curious" whether or not I'm/we are making the input/output temp spec that Rotax recommends. Ok, a few scratches, especially near the glareshield, when people have put objects on it, but otherwise, no crack due to bending of the Lexan, at all. ... Norwegian weather must be kind to Lexan! :-) Well I don't know, I'm in Australia and mine is original from ,94 and in good nick still. Those are MAX numbers and running at them would lead to premature engine wear. Here is some stuff to think on. If the engine is set to allow max rpm you would have to use a "climb" prop...or set the pitch a little finer than average. When you come back to cruise rpm the engine is not heavily loaded and the throttle is retarded quite a way. This leads to a lean mixture which is unhealthy for a two stroke. I like to set the engines up so you hit a max of 6250 rpm on a static run (tail tied to your truck or a nearby tree). This should allow you somewhere around 600/6350 for take off power and around 6400 max in level flight. These settings will still allow you to keep the engine loaded down while mainting 5800/6000 cruise rpm.. This will keep the EGTs a bit more in line. Hope this helps Bob Robertson Light Engine Services Ltd. Rotax Service Center St. Albert, Ab. I am leaning toward renting an engine hoist or cherry picker and lifting the front of the airplane by attaching rope to the points on the fuselage where the engine mounts connect and to the engine mount where the engine attaches. Someone please tell me if there are any precautions I need to consider such as putting to much stress on my attach points or if I need to consider other lift points. Just get a couple of guys to lift up on the wing struts where they attach to the wing and a third place a padded support under the fuselage. Then raise the tail and place a support under the tail wheel to level the plane. I have done that several times. -- John King Warrenton, VA Jimmie Blackwell wrote: >--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Jimmie Blackwell" > >Received my Grove main gear a few days ago and am making plans to install it in the next few days.
