Hello again,
Thanks to everyone for your advice and insight. I have purchased a 97
classic 4 with the speedster options. Long story short, it needs completing,
mostly assembly, fit and finish. It has a new 582 blue head which I will put
on another airplane and move a 912 to this project. I will have the motor
mount and extra stuff for the 582 for sale and will be looking for the 912
motor mount and exhaust. Anyone needing what I have or having what I need
contact me off list. Thanks again and I am sure to have many more questions
to come.

Did you keep the same flaperon length when you "shortened" the wings?

Giovanni,
I ran my model 4 1200 with ling wings for 200 hours and then ran with
shorter wings. I gained 8 mph and lost 150 feet of climb. When I land and
set it down, it quits flying , no float no bother. I love the short wing by
far. I flly high altit. 5000 to 14000, land at 1300 lbs at 7500ft. back
woods. no problem.
