Thanks, Greg, you've done what I was considering, but to a more elaborate degree.
I know of just a single axle pop-up for sale for $65, but needs to be lengthened
to accommodate the Kitfox. Now I know it is feasible.
If you have pictures, I'm sure everyone would really appreciate you posting on http://www.sportflight.com/ under the trailer section.
Did you have any trouble changing the title to a utility trailer from a camper?
      Thanks again!

        Ben,
         Finally, I have an answer(possibly : ) ) instead of a question. I'm new to
my Kitfox so I'm an avid reader of the list. Anyway, I too needed a trailer
and like you figured a boat trailer would fill the bill. After some thought
though I decided a boat trailer would need too much modification and still
wouldn't afford much protection from below. I also considered smaller trailers
such as landscape and utility, but found they weren't readily available in
longer lengths. With the overall folded length of my mod. 2 at about 22 ft. I

wanted the whole bird on the trailer, keeping the wingtips about 4 ft. from the

back of my tow vehicle for clearance in tight turns. Here's what I found, I
heard about a couple of old boys whose side line was trailer frames. Seems they
would canvass area campgrounds for derelict, abandoned campers, apparently
the campground operators were happy to have them drag them out of there. They
would then completely strip them to the frames, recycling everything they
could for scrap. I bought an 18 ft.(plus 4 ft. for the tongue) tandem axle for
$150. I decked it with 2x8x18 pressure treated boards, added a set of
pre-made fenders from the local trailer supply store, and a light kit. Done.
      Well,
almost, I did have to move the axles back because the tongue was way too light
with the plane on it with most of the weight in the nose of the plane which

faces backwards. But that was simply a matter of buying the pre-made spring
hangers and welding them an equal distance from the existing rear hangers.
Everything bolted right back up. The tandem axles, along with under inflated

radials, gives the plane a very gentle ride. It's also relatively low to the

ground for easy ramping. Sturdy enough for other jobs too, atv's, etc.
Anyway, I hope this is useful to you for another idea. Now, if I could just
figure out what brand of radio belongs in the tray that's in my
        panel.......... : )

        Safe Flying,
        Greg G.

I'm using Air Hawk 6.50-8 aviation grade tires. The negative side is that are
heavier and more expensive than the ATV tires. The positive side is that look
      good and "last forever".

There is an ad on the "Vintage Airplane" magazine for Desser Aero Classic Vintage Tires. They have size 700x8. You can check it at www.desser.com.

most of the time!! To those of you who have changed over from the originals,
what type of tread did you go to?? I plan on using "Golf cart Tires"
      probably
from CARLISLE! One tire available is a 18.5x8.5 x8 with a squareish profile
      and
straight ribs!! Others, have a rounder profile( crown) but different tread!!
Sure need some help here!!! Any suggestions !!

      Hi ! Gil,
I couldn't get rid off those old buffed down 2 ply ATV tyres
quick enough. You only needed to look at a prickle half a mile away and you
had a problem. I put greenslime sealant in the tyres but it was atttacking
the rims. That stuff is only good for inside a tube. Anyway I have now got
lawnmower tyres on my plane. They are a little rounded with a fine block
tread pattern. They are 4 ply made in USA and 18 x 6.50 x 8. This makes them
a little lower and very slightly narrower giving clearance in the wheel
pants. We initially tried them without tubes but was getting some leakage
where the lugs for the brake discs had been welded on the back of the rim so
we fitted tubes and run 14 PSI. I love these tyres on all surfaces. Hope
      this helps.

Thanks for all the input! The spar did have a problem that was causing the
pin to work upwards. It's fixed! The over-revving problem is currently solved.
The old GSC non-adjustable circa 1992 just got converted to adjustable yesterday.
I pitched it three degrees from where the most extreme blade was initially
at. I set the pitch with the Suunto clinometer then checked the tracking. That
gave 6000 static and 6700 in flight. Now it climbs around 1400fpm at 55-60mph.

I had my first downwind Xwind landings yesterday. No way would it stall. Ended
up with all wheel landings. They must have been the thing to do as it wasn't
too exciting and uneventful after touching down.

Is the gearbox noisy in all of these 582/B box configurations???? Mine seems
more noisy after flying for 30 min. or longer then upon power reduction it seems
quite noticeable. The oil is clean with no evidence of cuttings or wear in
      the past oil change.

      Ben,
I got the trailer with no paperwork. I don't know where you are, but
dealing with the dept. of motor vehicles here in New York, I like to keep it
simple. So, rather than filing for lost title and so on, I registered it as
homebuilt. They issued an assigned v.i.n. which I stamped onto a small plate and

then welded to the frame. Since this trailer is essentially long "dead" to DMV,
I figure it wouldn't make much difference to them. As for pics, I'll see if
I can figure out how to do it.You're looking at about the extent of my
      computer skills. : )

      Harry,

I modified my Series 6 SkyStar provided aluminum turtle deck so that the
back half opens up to access the large cargo bay. Works great.

      Hi Jeffery,

There are no external differences on the engine to determine of you have (or
don't have) an over-load clutch in your engine. Only the latest Rotax912UL-S
(100 hp) have the clcutch installed as a standard item. Even some of the
earlier 912s's came withouth the clutch.
Your best bet is to contact the company from whom you purchased your engine.
They would have (or should have) on record whether your engine has had the
      clutch installed.
If you have a 912ul (80 hp) I would doubt a clutch is installed as it was (and

is) a costly item. The clutch has become a standard item on the 100 hp 912's
to help combat the harsh starts and shut downs caused by the higher
      compression of this model.

      Hope this helps
