Hi Jeremy,
The Polyfiber epoxy varnish will take a LONG time to dry if it is old. You may
want to replace yours with recently manufactured product. I learned this the
hard way.

I have some question that I hope you could help me to find out the answer me.
I have Rotax 582, I used to check the ignition at 4000 RPM and see if the RPM would
not drop more than 200 on Left or Right Ignition.
What would be the rpm drop if the engine runs faster than 4000 rpm?
Few weeks ago, I run my engine at 5800 RPM and check my Left and Right Ignition.
I find out that on my Left ignition the RPM is dropped around 200RPM, but on
my Right Ignition my RPM is dropping up to 300RPM. Sometime the rpm would drop
another 300RPM and go back up. When I run the engine with both ignitions, it
seems ok.
Does anybody know if this condition would be a good or not a good condition?

Thanks to all for the advice...at this point I am studying through the
manuals (I got a binder with the original builders manual along with
about 6-7 envelopes with revisions and correction sheets...so had to go
through and throw out sheets that had been updated)
I am planning at this point to throw out the grey epoxy
(Scotchweld/Hysol) and the varnish and get new as well as the POLYTAK
glue. The POLYBRUSH should be fine, I was told, just might have to add
a little MEK if it has gotten too syrupy.
The pre-molded windshield is in pretty bad shape, so will be planning on
replacing it as well...
Need to get the welding done to convert the cage to a taildragger and
get going...

I has a similar, not exact, problem when I had a 582 on my Kitfox. It
turned out to the the reg./rectifier. I purchased the Key West unit and the
problem was fixed. Whom ever I spoke to at Skystar at the time quickly went
to this as the problem leading me to believe it was a common problem. This
might be a starting point for discussion.

Guys, I believe thast ROTAX says 300 max drop @ 4000 rpm but i stand
to be corrected..
The Regulator has nothing that i know of to do with cdi ignition as it
is part of the charging system being a regualtor and a Rectifier. But
I stand to be corrected.
Personally I thing you are in specs and no need for concern.
Ask a Rotax guy like Bob Robertson as he has proven he knows his stuff.

Actually I'm trying to simplify my life by getting rid of cockpit
control. My thinking was that since I'm dealing with a flaperon system I
could say that whenever I adjust trim I'll adjust the flaps, and
vice-versa. Let's say I first adjust the flaperons and trim for maximum
cruise. Then as I slow and add nose up trim I automatically add flaps,
which I want anyway because I'm slow and want the additional stall margin
and want the nose down too. The question is: do I really want them
independent? Are there times when I really should trim for slow flight with
no flaps? I know a lot of people never use flaps, which I probably would
have done too.
On a related note: Does anyone have a good idea for a small manual
pitch trim actuator? I purchased a no-backlash actuator from ACS but it's
big enough for a DC-3. Can I just use a friction device? Are the tab forces
low enough?
Thanks all,
Guy Buchanan

On the Kitfox, if you reduce speed you need to reduce the flap angle to maintain
level flight. This may not be the flight regimine you were contemplating but
it provides a condition when "automatic" is not "appropriate".
It has been my experience that when trimmed and throttle is reduced speed will
remain the same and altitude is lost, which I believe to be a desireable thing.

Does anyone have a right handed strut that would fit a Model 1. I did a
ground loop and the strut collasped under the plane. The tail wheel went to
one side causing this. did not do damage to wing. Any help would be
appriciated. I live in Northern Michigan. Thank you. Mike

If you want the throttle on the left hand, fly from
the right seat. This will require to have brakes on
the right pedals. If you don't have pedals on the
right side, this modification would be easier and more
practical than attempting any modification to the
throttle linkage.

Jeremy,
I have an original Model V windshield, never used. I live in the DC area.
It's yours for free, you just need to pick it up. FYI, it's too expensive to
ship so that's not really an option.

I just came across a pair of streamlined horizontal stabilizer struts in
white powder coat. As I recall they were too short for the Model V, so they
likely will fit model IV and earlier. Any reasonable will be accepted.
I also have white powder coated bungee gear struts, and two sets of axles,
and an elevator weldment.
