My understanding is that these flaperons can be used on the Model IV, and Series 5, 6 or 7 Kitfox wings. If you've been considering the upgrade to the new flaperons for your Kitfox, drop me a line! It sure looks good but we will only know how it works when we fly. Maybe in a month or so. Of course it means reaching under the instrument panel to disconnect the hose when removing the bottom cowl but this is easily done just by hand. They put out lots of air and have adjustable flow direction. I can have the air blow right in my face or not on me at all. Unhooking the pilot side is difficult because of hardware, however the co-pilot side comes off easily. Access is gained when the top cowl is removed. I don't have to crawl under the panel. ----- Original Message ----- From: Kerry Skyring To: kitfox-list@matronics.com Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2005 10:12 AM Subject: RE: Kitfox-List: Fresh air vents?? --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Kerry Skyring" Dean wrote... >What are you guys using for fresh air venting in your kitfoxes? I have never flown with the 296 but have many hours with the 295 in a 172 and never under any light had any problems viewing the screen. You do have to dim it considerably at night. I did talk with a fellow who was looking at the 296 and several other GPS's at Aircraft Spruce in Griffin, GA. We were outside and the 295 appeared to beat them all in sunlight. I'll stick with my 295 until it dies. I have it mounted on the upper middle of my S5 (surface mounted)and can read it well from all angles, how ever the plane hasn't flown quite yet. C.
