I would like to start flying again and want to buy my own plane but I havent decided which one would best suit my needs. My first considerations are: The price, I need to stay around $20,000 more or less A good safety record Economical to own and operate, about 5gph or so Suitable for aerial photography Suitable for an occasional cross county trip If my budget were not so limited I would also add: Baggage capacity about 150lbs A setup for rough field use A reasonable cruise speed A Glastar would be great but I only have a Cessna 150 budget. However I have limited knowledge of what might be available and would appreciate any input from this group. Thanks, Rick --------------------------------- ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 11:58:23 AM PST US From: "Paul Peerenboom" Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: matco brake pads --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Paul Peerenboom" MATCO BRAKES The kit for a 1993 model IV 8" rims #WHLBRL-1 included are 4 ea pads 12ea-6 rivets and 6ea -4 rivets. They also have a break in instructions. I paid $24?? they told me that for $52?? I could get them with new plates, and that I could send in the old plates they would change the pads for the cost of the pads only the $24?? I went with the pads only.Hope this helps Paul N102DG ----- > > >> --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "John Perry" >> >> Hello fellow flyers , does anyone have the part number for the brake pads >> for the matco brakes or the rapco pad number to cross them to ?. >> I really need to replace mine and am havign trouble finding the part >> number >> >> >> Thanks >> John Perry >> Kitfox 2 N718PD >> >> > ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 02:53:59 PM PST US From: N53dw@aol.com Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: flaperons as trim --> Kitfox-List message posted by: N53dw@aol.com If you're trying to correct a heavy wing, just loosen the rear lift strut connection and screw it in one turn on the heavy wing. Increases the angle of incidence just a touch. Fiddling with the flaperon linkage just moves your stick center position from side to side. I have a MKIV Classic/582 and my current motor still has not done 100 hrs from new yet so I'm not ready to change at this point. The 582 is a great engine but I suspect at MTOW on take off the Suzi engine could be better. I also guess the fuel economy would be better. Not sure about the life. Rotax say a big overhaul in 300 hrs but that seems way too soon for a blue head, but if one does go by the 300hrs then I imagine the Suzi wins hands down. I was at a fly-in a couple of months ago and there was a plane there called a Schnark with a 3 cylinder Suzi in it and I was amazed how sweet it ran. Puts the 582 to shame the way it runs between 2 and 3,000 RPM. Yes if and when I need to do big work on my 582 then I would consider the Suzi. I don't like the single ignition though. Do you know if the Suzi fits inside the Kitfox Classic cowl and what version of the motor. I think we need at least the 80 HP to make the change worthwhile. Can you point to anyone with a Suzi in a Kitfox ? Thanks, Rex Shaw Australia. rexjan@bigpond.com ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 09:24:20 PM PST US From: "Andy Fultz" Subject: Kitfox-List: Fuel Flow Meters --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Andy Fultz" Alright guys, help me out here. Why should I spend over twice the money for a "MIZER" fuel flow meter when I can get a "NAVMAN" fuel flow meter for half the price. Have any of you used the NAVMAN and what results have you had? I'm having a hard time justifying the difference in money.
