The gap should be between .016" and .020".

Roger,
I thought it was .017", but call Lockwood to be sure.

Hi folks,
Have just taken over a Classic IV kit which has lain unfinished for a few
years. All is in good condition, but am having a few issues trying to pick
up where the previous owner left off, so I guess I will be asking a few
more questions as time goes by.
I have been reviewing the instructions for finishing the Tail/Rudder and
Horizontal Stabiliser/Elevators, and note that the manual also shows
instructions for fitting ribs to streamline these parts for reduced drag
etc, as for a "Speedster". My kit is a "Standard" so I don't have these
bits. Does anyone have templates/drawings, etc, for the ribs and
stiffeners required for this option? I would like to see if I can
manufacture them?
Regards

Hi Everyone,
I am interested in a Dynon EFIS, and I would like to see an example of
an instrument panel with a Dynon. If anyone has a picture such as this,
could you email it to jim.gilliatt@att.net?
Thanks in advance,

Colin,
I added ribs and used lightweight glass laminated foam. The airfoil was my
design, for what that's worth. The factory used aircraft plywood and I
think about 1.8" thick. Some added a rib to the side of each rib to give a
little stiffening as they do have a tendency to warp longitudinally. I
don't think SS published templates as the ribs came in the kit pre cut.
Actually, I believe the ribs in the speedser tail came from the necessity of
providing room - about one inch in thickness - in the elevator to
accommocate the electric trim servo. That is why I put in the ribs. I
added electric trim to my "standard" IV and found I needed the room.
The wood ribs provided, began on the leading edge the width of the leading
edge tubing on both the orizontal stab and the elevator. The trailing edge
of both corressponded with the trailing edge tubing. The design didn't
provide for a gap seal as it resulted in essentially two airfoul shapes
joined by the hinge.
I have a drawing and some photos of my set-up at:
http://www.sportflight.com/cgi-bin/uploader.pl?action=view&epoch=1041348095
I might say it added about two months of part time work to engineer and
fabricate my set-up.
