I'm in need of a set (4) rudder pedal brake actuators (Just the top hindged part)

      Hi

I have an intermittent oil pressure problem which can happen after one has
been flying for over half an hour. Ie not at start up when the engine is
      cold

The oil pressure goes up to 90 to 92 PSI at 4500 RPM and when the Oil temp
      is 160 to 165 deg

If one then pulls the power to 2000 RPM the Oil pressure goes UP to 99
      PSI.

We always turn the prop 20+ revolutions by hand in order to get the oil up
from the sump into the oil header tank

If we leave the Kitfox for 4 hours then the oil totally drains out of the
header tank down to the sump. On all the other Kitfox IV's we maintain, the
oil does drain but not nearly so quickly ie it drains over a period of 2/3
      weeks of non use.

Has anyone else had this problem and know what to do?

With OAT of 97 (phew!) it's not surprising the temp could reach 250,
especially with lots of climbouts. 250 is pretty high, but I wouldn't
consider it catastrophic so long as you don't hold it there too long and you
have a good anti freeze mix. Adding a scoop for the rad will do wonders for
coolong. What happens when you level out in cruise for awhile?

      Hi Paul,
I think it will work on Lexan. I used the "Polyfiber Process" to attach
fabric to my Turtle Deck. In a few days I'll spray the UV blocker and
Aerothane and let you know what happens.

One thing you should note is that Plexiglass and Lexan are different
materials. Lexan is not very resistant to chemicals but this maybe a good
thing for applying Polyfiber (liquid vinyl) because it may bond/melt to it
      better thank Plexiglass.

Find out if your LP doors are Lexan or Plexiglass because the Polyfiber
process may work on one but not the other.

By the way I called Polyfiber and asked them if this would work and they
were not sure and said to test it and find out. However, they did tell me to
be sure to sand the Lexan to ensure a good bite.

      Robert

      All:

Has anyone any experience painting the edges of the LP Aero bubble doors
with paint? Particularly with Polyfiber Aerothane?

I want to trim the edges of my doors with matching fuselage colored paint,
but am concerned the solvents could attack the Plexiglass. I could do a
test on some scraps, but thought maybe someone has done this before and can
save me some paint mixing and time. Any advice or experiences would be
      appreciated.

Paul, I painted a 3/4 edge around door with Aerothane. Been painted
about 6 months and see no effects. Be sure to use a masking that is vapor
proof and also mask the opposite side of the window. Airborne vapors can
      attack that side also.

I had a problem with fluctuating oil pressure dropping down to 30 psi on my
      912 ULS.
I called Lockwood and talked to their engine man He told me that the problem
was in the oil sender. I replaced the sender and that solved the problem.

Yes. I have the round cowl on my Mdl IV. Used the UHS spinner..the 10". At
first I thought it was too large..but once I got it on the plane..I
decided it looked nice. With the IVO Medium, it looks like there is a lot
of engine under the hood. Go to the "Taildragger Times" folder on the web
site below and you can see some pics.

What exactly does the dia of a spinner do for the round cowl? I would

think it closes up the opening more and would give you more funneling

Was at a seminar last week and the Rotax Service Centre Rep focused on
reducing vibration in the 912 series. Carb Sync, Coil pickup gap and Blade
Tracking were high on the list. Has anyone ever adjusted the tracking on
an IVO Medium. Do you shim it at the hub? What do you use for shims?

See this? Works well. Not flown yet (very close) but all the high power

The October 2005 Kitplanes has an article on page 65 about shopping for a used
Rotax engine. The picture at the bottom of the page talks about rocker arm bushing
evolution. It is stated that 1st came iron, then phenolic, then bronze. This
is an incorrect statement. The proper sequence is iron, bronze then phenolic.
This can be verified via Rotax service bulletins.

When first running the 912 in 1997 I did not realize the oil syphoning back to
the sump. I thought the engine was low on oil and I refilled it to the mark just
before the next engine start. What a mess it caused!
I installed a small check valve between the tank and the oil cooler so it was free
flowing with the spring removed ,and the side where the spring formerly was
I raised up to 90 degrees. That was sufficient to stop the oil flow after shutdown.
The suction of the oil pump raises the ball, permitting unrestricted oil
      flow.
I have this system since 1997 and never had any problems with it.

      Hi Listers,

Does anyone know the story behind this aircraft and the crash? Almost
looks like an RC model especially given the cameraman's rather
unemotional comment following the crash. Kind of looks like the
elevator may have been hooked up backwards following a rebuild.

Any information on this video would be intersting.
