Randy,
I have a friend that has one on his Just Aircraft Highlander (currently on
floats). He likes the prop a lot. I flew it when the airplane was on
wheels, and with a 912s Rotax, it would climb like a bat and cruise a little
over a hundred mph indicated (the Highlander has the early Avid/Kitfox high
lift airfoil). It also ran quite smooth.
From the little bit I know of this prop, I can tell you it is a very
attractive, and substantial looking prop (A lot of pilots liked the look of
the beefier "more general aviation like" wider blade). And it looks like
one of the easiest to adjust ground adjustable props out there. I think
Sensenich definitely did their homework on this one.
Check out his website at www.cornellaeroworks.com if you want to contact him
about further details on the prop.

When I asked my original question about 22 degrees (or 25 degrees)
being the book limit I had something else in mind.
It seems that if your flaperons extend significantly beyond what the
book calls for, your flaperons are not rigged properly. When I
pulled my flap handle all the way up (back), I got 22 degrees of
deflection. With that arrangement, I could pull nearly full flaps
before I noticed any limitation in aileron deflection.
If you are getting 30 or more degrees with the handle pulled all the
way I would pull the seats out, get the construction manual out, and
re-check all of the linkages in and out of the mixer assembly. The
book is pretty specific about the rod end adjustments and the stick
versus flaperon movements.
Advice that's worth what you paid for it. :-)

Paul,
Thanks for the feed back. I especially appreciate your comments on the
appearance of the prop. I do worry about the strength of some of the props.
There are several prop manufactures who don't support two bladed props
(especially for the 912S) because of failure at the hub. It seems the three
blade tames the power stroke enough to survive. I like the higher
efficiency of the two blade prop.
A friend just bought a Highlander kit. - Due to arrive just before
Christmas. I will pass this website on to him.

Can anyone tell me the width of the main gear wheels on a Model 4 with the
standard bugi cord gear? I put on a Grove and can't remember how much wider
it is.
Thanks
John

Yesterday, I flew across Norway to the western coast where the big fjords are.
Probably my most enjoyable flight so far. The scenery is just breathtaking.
As you know, dear pilot friends, photos will never do justice to the experience
of being there, but still, here are a few:

The Grove gear with cleveland 6" wheels is about 6 foot 4" OUT to OUT. I
just measured mine to put it in a trailer. That's at least 12" wider than
the bungie ,,, maybe a little more. Bob U.

Mike G ,
Where do you get this stuff about 30 degrees is too much ?
I more than interested in fact and where is this written that 30
degrees is too much?
I have checked a few other Model IV and they both over 30 degrees as
well.
Maybe a whole bunch are made wrong? sure possible but i not sure.
The Flappersons deployed as MAX down and in my case 33 degrees give
that extra boost to break suction on glassy water or even on Wheels or
skis but the do create some drag and you want to get rid of some as
soon as you get nose donw adn some speed.
now for landing i did state that i use up to 20 degrees as I find the
roll control a bit funky beyond that .
Flapperons on Kitfox Iv do seem to make it a better performer than
without flapperons. But if you do not know how to use flaps and
benefit from them I guess they would not seem practical to some.
Mike maybe you could measure your flapperon deflection and let us know
what it is.

I'm a post solo student pilot with about 25 hours in a Cessna 172. I'm working
on the purchase of a Model IV and would like to complete my training in this airplane.
Is this advisable? I'm also considering switching to a Sport Pilot license
since I've decided that I'll be limiting myself to local day VFR until I
have enough hours.

I am about to upgrade from a two leaf spring to the three leaf spring from Skystar.
I was reading the builders manual, and I read that the main attach bolt
is epoxied in place before covering! the new spring comes with a longer bolt.
What is the method for removing the old bolt so the new one can be installed?
Oh, I fly a model IV, 1200, scott tail wheel!

Thanks for making the effort. Sometimes I think we have a lock on
beautiful scenery in California. Clearly it's not true, as these are some
of the most breathtaking shots I've ever seen.
