--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Don Smythe" <dosmythe@cox.net> If you have the right door setup, there is an alternative to flying with the doors off. I have the standard door (solid bottom/Lexan top). I attach the upper lexan with screws around the door frame. In the summer, I take off the upper lexan portion. This cuts down the draft a bit and gives you the feeling of sitting in sports car. Just prop your elbow up on the ledge and enjoy. Also, there are some passengers that get quite intimidated with the doors off. This method gives you and the passengers a sense of security with wide openness at the same time. Subject: Ducati E-Box problem
--> Kitfox-List message posted by: Jim Burke <jeburke94je@direcway.com> Just Like most of the Kitfox flyers on the list, I set back and take advantage of all the great ideas and information posted and feel guilty I don't have much to offer when it comes to contributing trouble shooting. I can't say enough good things about the input from experienced owners to help there fellow flyers. With that said I once again need to ask for a little help myself with a problem I am having. It would seem I have a Ducati E-Box that has went or is going bad and I'm not sure I know the proper way to trouble shoot my problem. At 300.00 a pop I would like to know my investment would fix my problem. If I could get a list from one of you more educated in trouble shooting the Ducati E-Box I would be most grateful. I have done a little trouble shooting and the results are listed below. Mag Check: #1 1000 rpm drop #2 50 rpm drop # 1 unplugged # 2 plugged= static 5500 rpm # 2 unplugged # 1 plugged= static 6200 rpm Both # 1 and # 2 plugged= static 5000 rpm Normal static rpms is 6300 when all systems are go. I hope this much information will help. Thanks in advance, Jim 94JE IV-1200 582

This is one of the nicest kitfoxes I have seen anywhere (It was built by Mr. Kitfox himself, Ed Downs - Former Skystar President). Many upgrades that were built into the kit make it more similar to the Classic IV than the Model III. The interior is a 10/10 and the exterior is 9.5/10. A sure way to weaken or even blow an e-box is to run the engine with the spark plug cap disconnected from the spark plugs. Hopefully you have not done any damage. I cannot e-mail you a test page, but if you e-mail me a fax munber I will gladly send you a page outlining the various tests you need to do to determine serviceablility of the ignition system parts.
