Bingo, Kurt! I learned this trick from Jim Miller, the Poly-Fiber rep
from Columbus, Ohio (Aircraft Technical Support). I had called him a
day after he had given a weekend workshop at Oshkosh, and I thought he
was back home when he was explaining this trick to me....he was
negotiating traffic through Chicago while he taught me how to negotiate
around obstacles inside a wing...now that's dedication!

I would rather be sliding down the ILS slow and bumpy over fast and bumpy
any day. Just because it is a light airplane doesn't mean it is a lousy IFR
platform, you just get a few more vibrations in your backside. You have a
lot more time to make corrections.

My point exactly. Unless of course you mean ILS - I Land Short. The
kitfox is a great plane, but a lousy IFR platform. It is, however,
without a doubt the greatest toy in the world.

Looks like my bottom ones will be easy, but the top ones are such
that the engine mount bolt cannot be removed completely, which
prevents replacing both pads.
This is also the best flying wx of the year here in Texas, so I
really hate taking the plane out of service for a couple of
weeks. Oh well, gotta keep it safe.

I did support the engine with a hoist. The top two will require

Hey John,
Could you come up with some lighter tips? Those are
pretty heavy and maybe some different materials like
carbon fiber and S glass would do better. Save a few
lbs for those of us who care.
Maybe the same with wheel pants too? Cowls?
Just thinking.... All those little pounds add up.

The reason I asked you about the UL or ULS was, if you had the ULS then you would
have to shorten the steel inserts that are in the middle of each mount, this
was a vibration issues with the uls.

Have to put my 2 cents in. I put static ports on my Kitfox IV-1200. 2 ,
one on each side. The location where Skystar said. I do a lot of steep
slips, left and right and wanted the same readings on both. With the
aircraft slipping (very steep) at 60 indicated airspeed is 65. The aircraft
is almost flying sideways. I have flow with aircraft gauges with out the
external port and the gauges jump around a lot. Clilnt

Been watching this thread.. for the record.. the static location for the
Series 5 was flight tested with a calibration boom... and I believe it was
tuft in that area as well.
Having the static on one side will be effected during slips..typically in
that direction..
As for static port in the cockpit.. the A/S will typically read slightly
higher... Lets see... how about another topic just to get juices flowing...
Non-pressurized aircraft, Instrument conditions... Icing.. (YUK, hate this
already) Lets assume the static source if iced over.. time for alternate
static source (which is typically in the cockpit on non-pressurized
aircraft) PULL... what changes should we expect ??

I stumbled on to an interesting website researching the latest predator
success in Pakistan.

They offer a fuel injected 912 for $10,000. They offer a fuel injection
kit for $2200.
I suspect that their history is limited, but has anyone heard of them?
Bought an engine from them? Flying with one of their engines?

Hello guys,
I am installing a cabin heater on my Jabiru 2200 and I wanted to have
the heat box as much airtight as possible, on the exhaust muffler. So,
I was looking for a gasket that would withstand the heat.
A few days ago, I passed in front of a fireplace and oven store. I went
in and asked if they had some type of gasket (I was thinking, for the
pipe system). They had something for the doors of closed
fireplaces/ovens. But it was thick and round. I was about to give up
when I saw something: flat wicks by the meter. Hum, that could do the
trick. But how to fix it in place? Glue it! answered the shopkeeper.
Glue? Impossible, it will be very hot. Well this glue withstand 1,100
degrees C (2,012 F)
I left the shop USD 10,- poorer but today I went flying, trying the new
cabin heater and it works very well!
