--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Don Pearsall" <donpearsall@comcast.net> Floran, maybe it was the way that your ISP sent your mail to you. Perhaps the headers were being changed so that the reply-to field was mixed up. I did try to do a search on this problem on the Microsoft support site and did not get any good results. Why don't you review your settings on the SEND portion of OE by clicking TOOLS > OPTIONS > SEND. If that does not work, try Rex's suggestion by following the procedures in the link he included. Of course restart your computer afterwards. If THAT does not work, send me one of the offending messages as an attachment and I will look to see how the mail header is arranged. That will tell me if it is Outlook doing it or the way the mail is configured as your receive it. Any comments would be a help. Thanks, Don Stevenson, Caledon, Ontario, Canada M4/1200/912 Speedster

--> Kitfox-List message posted by: Alan & Linda Daniels <aldaniels@fmtc.com> I have covered aluminum with fabric with good results in the past, but just on small panels. My concern would be the weight and how it might affect flutter. Even the weight of paint is of concern on a control surface. If you are using polytone you can spray the paint into the primer primer before it dries and it will give you good results. You need two paint guns for this because you do not have time to clean the gun and reload before the primer get too dry. It will be a little shinier than the wings, but the color with match and it will look just fine. --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "ron schick" <roncarolnikko@hotmail.com> Don I got a speedster from a tweaker that had done everything wrong that he touched. One of the things was the flapperons had been cut all of the way around at the hinges. These had aluminum strips riveted over them as scabs. I read the manual and found specifications to make the cuts on the SPEEDSTER model, then cover the slits with fabric. I have not decided what to do to mine yet, but covering them is possible. Maybe a little extra drag from the surface. --> Kitfox-List message posted by: Alan & Linda Daniels <aldaniels@fmtc.com> Consider the structural component of the aluminum on the flaperons. If they have be degraded structurally with improper cuts you may have a safety of flight issue. The ribs are just foam. Scab patching may not look as good, but you may have to for strength. Find someone local that is has built a nice aluminum airplane, it would be a piece of cake for them. --> Kitfox-List message posted by: Donald STEVENSON <shericom@rogers.com> Ron, According to my Speedster manual, you need the cuts in the skin, covered with 2" fabric tape, There are also metal clips on the trailing edge of the flaperon to keep the sections lined up. These clips are riveted on one side of the cuts only, the other side floats in the clip allowing it to move with the load on the control surface. Hope this is a help, Don --- ron schick <roncarolnikko@hotmail.com> wrote: > --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "ron schick" > <roncarolnikko@hotmail.com> > > Please let me know what you find as I have one > virgin side, and one done > wrong. --> Kitfox-List message posted by: John King <kingjohne@adelphia.net> Ron, Making the cuts on the flaperons at the hinges is no longer recommended, or necessary. That was recommended when the Model IV-1200 Speedster first came out. -- John King Warrenton, VA ron schick wrote: >--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "ron schick" <roncarolnikko@hotmail.com> > >Don I got a speedster from a tweaker that had done everything wrong that he >touched. --> Kitfox-List message posted by: Donald STEVENSON <shericom@rogers.com> Ron, My Speedster (1992) is in the construction stage, I purchased it from a gentlemen in California a year age and I'm just about ready to cover it, The fellow in California had already made the cuts in the flaperons, was there any kind of a service bulletin to alter these in any way?Don Stevenson --- John King <kingjohne@adelphia.net> wrote: > --> Kitfox-List message posted by: John King > <kingjohne@adelphia.net> > > Ron, > > Making the cuts on the flaperons at the hinges is no > longer recommended, > or necessary. --> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Lowell Fitt" <lcfitt@sbcglobal.net> Don, I can't claim to have seen every Kitfox out there, but I have never seen flaperons covered with fabric. I have seem them painted and polished. My only concern would be the weight of the fabric and finish and how it would work with the recently discussed mass balance weights. Mine are white and match the finish very well. --> Kitfox-List message posted by: Lynn Matteson <lynnmatt@jps.net> Frank Miller told me NOT to make the cuts on my 1994 Speedster, when I contacted him in 2004. Regarding the painting, I painted mine with Polyfiber enamel to match the white Polytone with which I painted the wings, and they match almost perfectly (using flattener in the enamel to match the Polytone's flatness.)
