Does anyone know who supplied Skystar of their aluminium 11" version. This info would be very helpful now that Skystar are no longer around. I think it's narrow/long and fits up in under the dash... Possibly an Avid product would be the same , work as well... Anyone have one or know who has one? thanks Rich N50PC ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 08:36:57 AM PST US From: Alan & Linda Daniels Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Skystar Heater (type) 912U --> Kitfox-List message posted by: Alan & Linda Daniels B&M transmission coolers from JEGS.com and a couple of computer cooling fans work well and is inexpensive. I use two smaller units on one of my planes, one above each side to blow warm air on each persons feet. I used one larger unit on another. The core appears to be an aluminum transmission cooler which gets plumbed through the firewall into "T"s which go in the engine coolant lines with two muffin fans pushing the air through the core. I am sure a person could use any one of several transmission oil coolers which can be found in an auto parts store, but the one in my kit was labeled: Earl's Performance plumbing 19302 South Laurel Park Road Rancho Domingo, CA 90220 Part Number 41608 Sincerely, Dave S. Anyway, with the Avid penetration skis, the wheel throws up a considerable amount of snow, slush, mud, onto the ski. Much of it collects around the side and back of the tire, but alot gets up front too. Not a problem with dry snow, but this slush doesn't want to come off, even at 100mph. A buddy suggested covering up the frame to ski area with expandable foam, kind of like a fairing, so that this can't happen. Is this idea worthy of action? I know that snow would have to be able to come out away from the tire so that it can spin normally, but what about filling in the area away from the tire. It was suggested higher in the center of the ski and sloping out to the sides. Not very high, but just enough so snow does rest in the frame. I wondered about putting a "tire scrubber" type skirt on the ski. I was thinking about makinging a rubber skit around the tire that the tire would rub on, but leave the snow/slush - kind of like a kyak deal with the paddler. Suggestions and shoot downs would be greatly appreciated. larry --------------------------------- ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 02:40:08 PM PST US From: Bill Hammond Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: heater valve --> Kitfox-List message posted by: Bill Hammond I did the same thing. I experience exactly the same as you do and I am also looking for a solution. Instead of a rubber skirt, as you mention, I was thinking of a kind of brush that would be physically in contact with the tyre yet not wearing it. It would simply brush the tyre before snow, mud or whatever, gets a chance to come over the ski. But I don't know if it will work or how to fix that "brush" to the ski. Cheers, Michel ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 05:54:59 PM PST US From: Lmar Subject: Kitfox-List: Ref: Ski Mod? --> Kitfox-List message posted by: Lmar Good idea Michel, The brush was my original idea, then I expanded it to thinking about a rubber skirt. I wondered about using a shoe polishing brush, or walking through the farm supply store to see what comes to mind. Larry ---------------------------------
