According to the FAA registration, N815BH is assigned to a Bell model 47G
helicopter. However the status looks questionable.

Hi Duane,
I believe that there were 2 and maybe 3 failures of
the old jack screw. I have pictures at home of one
plane before and after it broke. It was a beautiful
plane that got bent sideways plus other damage when
the jack screw broke loose just before landing and it
hit hard. The jack screw broke at the bottom mount.
This was the old jack screw where the motor was
parallel to the jack screw. The newer and stronger
ones have the motor at 90 degrees. I still added a
backup safety mount on the bottom of mine and so did
some others.
The wound spring trim indicator that came with mine
was terriblly inaccurate. It would not show any
movement for the first 25% of travel in either
direction. I bought a rheostat and linear meter from
radio Shack and made a system where the stab rotates
the rheostat and the meter reads its position in the
cockpit. Works fine for me. Some people just use a
takeoff reference line on the tail and a mirror in the
cockpit to line it up. Pretty easy and fool proof.
Mine does not trim below about 60 knots unless I carry
baggage. John McBs flap/trim fix may be in the works
for me after I tweek a few other things.
I might have to add the correction for the sensitivity
in cruise too. So far I have been beeping in trim and
immediately beeping in reverse to get a fine
adjustment. It may take several up/down tries to get
it set right.
Overall I like the electric trim fine on my S-5. It
just needs a little tweeking to make it work perfectly
and to keep it operating safely.

Thanks Lloyd,
I've seen this system and though it looks great in an RV, it's a
bit large for a IV. I've already got the friction lever installed so I'm
happy to hear it worked for you. Thanks again for all the help.

What did you think of the size. Was it about right? Too large? Too small?

How did the friction system work? I bought a small throttle quadrant that
uses friction but I was worried it wouldn't hold.

Did you run the cable out the angled member of the elevator? Or did the
cable make some kind of an "S" to meet the tab perpendicular to it?
Thanks for the help. By the way, I got your sketch off-line and it
clarified how you handled the back end. Thanks again.

Subject: | APB for Bob Nuckolls Wiring Seminar |
--> Kitfox-List message posted by: Dan Billingsley <dan@azshowersolutions.com>
To all intrested,
I have recently been in touch with Bob Nuckolls about doing a 2 day
weekend seminar (in the Phoenix area) on Panel/firewall forward
wiring. Bob is the author of The AeroElectric Connection and is a
leading authority in aeronautical electronics. See the following
web site for more info on the seminar.
www.aeroelectric.com/seminars/seminars.html
We will need 20 participants and the cost is $150 for the weekend.
He suggested we set the time in August or September to allow for
enough to sign up. If we get enough interest amoungst us in the
area, I would like to see it happen in June or July.
If you would like to be included as a participant, please e-mail me
direct at danb_89@yahoo.com. Send your name and phone # and I will
put you on the list. I will let everyone know where we stand in a week
or so and we can go from there.
Thanks,

Subject: | NSI CAP Control Unit Circuits |
--> Kitfox-List message posted by: "Colin Durey" <colin@ptclhk.com>
Hi Folks,
I am presently looking over the NSI prop control unit out of Graeme Tofts'
ditched Kitfox. After a thorough cleanup it looks pretty good, especially
considering that if forgot it was out of an aircraft and tried to be a
submarine controller for a few hours. There are no fried tracks and
components, so I am quite hopefull that it can be resurrected.
Before I launch into the unknown, I thought I would ask if anyone on the
list has a copy of the circuit schematics for this unit, or at least, a
connection diagram. This will make my job a lot easier, otherwise, I'll
just have to do it the hard way and trace everything out first.
Any help that you can give will be greatly apreciated.
Regards
Colin Durey
